There are forces, ones which seek to defeat the West, and see the USA become a third rate power, who are trying with all their might to turn Iraq into another Vietnam. Our biggest mistake with Vietnam (not to mention every other proxy war we've been in since WW2) was our failure to attack the sponsoring states with vigor. Let us not make the same mistake again. Do we have the courage to demolish the sponsoring states?

We've already won in Iraq as we never did in Vietnam - it's now a matter of keeping the peace. How would leveling Damascus or Tehran help our cause in Iraq? We can bomb Iran and Syria at will but that may only swell the ranks of their terrorists entering Iraq. Our military is simply unfit for peacekeeping operations after major combat. As a Chinese strategist once warned Genghis Khan, "You can conquer whole nations on horseback, but you must dismount to rule them." The US military circa 2004 isn't designed to dismount.

YOu gotta be kidding me.

We've got enough evidence to convict half of the Saudi Royalty and their sycophants, not to mention their ex intel chief in direct complicity and sponsorship of the Attacks, and we do a shadowy kabuki dance with them, thereby allowing monies to flow from Riyadh to jihadis all around the world.

Nope. One can only hope for anarchy, mayhem, civil war and chaos in the Tragic Kingdom, thereby necessitating US intervention.

Jihad won't stop til we cut off the money. Then we can nail the jihadis. Otherwise, it's basically a whack a mole game around the world. Like the Pakistani campaign for instance.
