"So glad to know that Kerry believes in the soverignty of America and isn't an UN-suck-up-internationalist after all."

I think he has proven to be both. The long litany of taking both sides of a position continues....

I heard it! Within hours of the attacks on September 11, Stephanopolous was speaking excitedly, hurriedly of the day's events. He was describing the atmosphere in the Situation Room right after the bombing of TWA 800. I think only freepers understood the connotation that day.

Sept 12: MATTHEWS: Speaking of our level of commitment and the level of commitment for those who are against this terrorism, if we discover that bin Laden is responsible for this attack on the World Trade tower and on the Pentagon, should we try to kill him?"

Mathews is today bent out of shape for W asking Clarke to look into possible Iraq connections, as if we immediately knew with 100% certaincy everybody who was involved. From his quote, he wasn't so sure himself.

Absolutely! Senator I'll-Say-Anything-To-Get-A-Vote-Or-What-I-Want Kerry said this in 1970:

“I’m an internationalist,” Kerry told The Crimson in 1970. “I’d like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations.” Kerry said he wanted “to almost eliminate CIA activity. The CIA is fighting its own war in Laos and nobody seems to care.”

Compare that with this after 9-11:

"I was heartened by the president's comments tonight. We need to make certain that those countries that sponsor terrorism, that support it, that harbor these fugitive are as much a part of the problem as those who engage in the terrorist acts themselves. And we need to make certain as a country we respond to that. Boldly and bravely -- not recklessly -- but boldly."

So, WHICH IS IT SENATOR?? Which side of your mouth are you talking out of today?

Hitchcock, guest hosting for Limbaugh, just had a wonderful quote from Kerry, I believe from a speech at Georgetown U (?) on 23Jan2003(?). In that speech, he said something to the effect that we had to take out Hussein because he was a menace, and if Hussein doesn't pay attention to what President Bush was saying we would do so.

I'll look for that quote. I would appreciate it if someone else could do so, too...

Ahh... here it is already ... from http://kerry.senate.gov/low/record.cfm?id=189831 In part,

"Second, without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive
regime. We all know the litany of his offenses. He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to
miscalculation. He miscalculated an eight-year war with Iran. He miscalculated the invasion of Kuwait. He miscalculated
America's response to that act of naked aggression. He miscalculated the result of setting oil rigs on fire. He miscalculated the
impact of sending scuds into Israel and trying to assassinate an American President. He miscalculated his own military strength.
He miscalculated the Arab world's response to his misconduct. And now he is miscalculating America's response to his
continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction. That is why the world, through the United Nations
Security Council, has spoken with one voice, demanding that Iraq disclose its weapons programs and disarm. "

...{ internationalist waffle words }...

"In U.N. Security Council Resolution 1441, the United Nations has now affirmed that Saddam Hussein must disarm or face the
most serious consequences. Let me make it clear that the burden is resoundingly on Saddam Hussein to live up to the ceasefire
agreement he signed and make clear to the world how he disposed of weapons he previously admitted to possessing. "

...{ more internationalist waffle words }...

In condemning Saddam about the scuds he launched into Israel, we need to remember that one of the many military and defense projects/programs that Kerry voted against was the Patriot missile system.

And I will state again that the ONLY reason that Saddam started feigning cooperating and allowed the UN inspectors back in was because GW Bush placed the mighty military of the US on his doorstep. Kerry would have left them there, in those heightened levels of readiness 24/7 for much, much longer while he wined and dined with his French bunk-buddies at the UN. And we would have gotten no where with the UN and Saddam would have had even more time to burn documents, hide WMD and conspire with AQ.

All this, Kerry would endorse at great personal cost to our servicemen and women and to the American taxpayer. Without regard to either...

This really says only that Kerry agreed with President Bush at one time. That is a scary thought. Maybe it's just what Kerry would like to spread around.

The TWA 800 reference is most interesting.

The left still doesn't understand that with the internet, their words can be used against them. But of course, they count on the complicit press to keep mum.

That's why it's our job to make sure that voters know what positions the leftists took, until they had presidential and other aspirations.

"Why Kerry isn't testifying in front of the Commission is beyond me..."

It's due to cowardice on the part of the Republican members.

This is the big thing..he lists things that were terrorist attacks, including TWA 800..interesting...and then says this: "but not really doing hard work of responding."

Hmm Mr. Kerry.
