Kerry attack on Chavez upsets left wing supporters

John Kerry, the Bay State boy toy, launched a scathing attack on the neo-communist leader of Venzuela, Hugo Chavez today, accusing him of being a "dubious democrat", and upsetting the possiblity of getting an endorsement from the Venezuelan.

This skirmish between the two leftist leaders has upset some in the Kerry camp, who supported Chavez in his Revolution that brought him back to power two years ago.

One anguished Kerry supporter took to the internet, and in a missive laden with profanity, opined:

F* Kerry, what a piece of sh*t. This kind of crap really pisses me off. As much as I can't stand Bush and don't want him back, I don't think I can support a guy like Kerry who makes statements like this. I think Greens are the answer. It may take a while to build up the party to be a force, but it looks like the only and best way to me. One guy like Nader, even if he were to win, isn't go to make a dent in this. To make a difference, it's going to take a sustained and growing grass roots movement, imo, based on principles of social justice and humanitarian values where people understand and "evangelize" to others how biased and tainted the mass media and the established parties are toward big business. Big business and big money own these political parties, and they own Kerry as well.

Another one, with a photo of Marx as his "tag-line", said:

This is one line in the sand that I will not cross for Mr. Electable. What's next for Kerry? Keep Otto Reich, John Bolton, and John Negroponte to help him pursue the SAME Fascist foreign policy in Latin America that Bush is pursuing?

John Kerry may have underestimated the depth of support for communist dictators within his party. Clearly, the base of the Democrat party would be happier with nominating Hugo Chavez than John Kerry.

Looks like somebody's been lurking over at DU again. Now go take a shower and make sure you get plenty of soap in your eyes.

I dunno, but on one of my rare look-sees at DU I saw a fair amount of support for Chavez.

Dead serious. Stuff from the DUmmies, with the Kerry v Chavez thread being the biggest one in recent times. Kerry has no idea of a backlash this will bring.

Hey listen, although communism killed 100,000,000+ people last century, this is a totally new century.

If we could only get the right people running it, communism would like totally work for everybody and stuff.

Besides, if communism ever goes totally out of style, I'll have to throw out three drawers of Che t-shirts.

Is this a parody?

With Kerry, if you have to ask, it probably isn't.

Yeah, I went to a Milton conference in the 1990s, after the fall of the Berlin wall and the breakup of the Soviet Union, and all the Marxist types were in mourning.

When asked about this, one colleague (whom I actually rather like) said that the problem was that Russia had its revolution TOO SOON. They should have waited for the rise of capitalism before staging their revolution. You can't have a proper Communist revolution until you have a proper capitalist state with an appropriate number of oppressed proletariat.

So, she said, Russia has to build a real capitalist system and maybe a hundred years from now they can have a second revolution, and this time do it right, having gone through all the proper scientific stages in the proper historical order.

This may be crude...but when she closed her eyes and turned off her radical brain, was she....er, um.....any good?

Just a curiosity thing, but I've always wondered about liberated progressive "chicks"....

Good point. Communism has only murdered once in the 21st century - Bill Maher's career.

The DUmmies would support Chavez. After all, liberals love totalitarian dictators of all stripes.

I think the disgruntled commie is being too hasty. The evidence of past behavior suggests that when Kerry says he opposes something or someone, it actually means he supports it, and vice versa. Specifically, with regard to another Latin American dictator, he showed his strong support for the anti-Castro Helms-Burton law by voting against it in '96, not withstanding that he touted his vote for it to Cuban expatriates in Florida just this year.

The commie supporter should be more worried if Kerry spoke favorably of Chavez, which would presumably mean that he would oppose him when it came to actual votes and actions. But, admittedly, even this is not certain, because sometimes Kerry either opposes or supports a measure by supporting and opposing it.

It gets kinda confusing.

Maybe Kerry's finally figured out that some of these foreign tinhorn endorsements aren't all they were cracked up to be a couple weeks ago.

I think we should all go on DU and SUPPORT NADER! Raise a ruckus about every difference Kerry and Nader have. And push the "he doesnt have a view on anything" line about Kerry... that can work on leftists as well as conservatives. In fact it's probably even more frustrating for them.

I just checked out DU... it's not even worth infiltrating that site. It's so cluttered and user un-friendly that I can't even make out a coherent thread.
