On March 9, CIA Director George J. Tenet testified about threats to our national security before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Most of the mainstream media focused on Democrat Senators Ted Kennedy and Carl Levin challenging Tenet to admit that the Bush administration had hyped pre-war intelligence on Iraq. NBC Nightly News' Andrea Mitchell took the same approach but then failed to note that Tenet, a former Democratic staffer on Capitol Hill, did not take the bait and explicitly denied that the Bush administration had manipulated the intelligence.

So, open, honest debate; telling the truth; standing up when we come to conclusions is what we're about in this country. And, you know, many of our allied services, quite frankly, saw this the same way as we saw it. We're all playing off the same sheet music. Well, that's just not good enough. In this society, we have to give people the confidence that we know what we're doing, and if we were in error, then we have to be willing to stand up and say so.
The only thing I'd say is I think that men and women on the ground in Baghdad who work at the ISG, who I visited two or three weeks ago, don't believe their job is done. They still think they have a lot of work to do. And I think we need some patience to find out the additional data that they will give us. And we'll report it honestly.

Of ourse, liberal bias in the news is a myth.
The good news is that more and more of America can identify the bias now that they can compare CNN to FOX etc. Even my wife yells at the TV now and has become expert at noticing bias in just 2 short years.
You raise a good point, and I'd advance the argument that it's even worse- old folks are often a captive audience for the TV... I saw this with my late Mother, and notice it with my wife's Mom. They really couldn't do much more that sit & watch the danged thing, due to illnesses, and the TV shows became a substitute family for them.
The pharmas are throwing TONS of money into every media they can get. NBC's Sales Department came up with a gimmick a few years back that they're still using - it's called NBC News Healthline or somesuch title. They used to run a segment every night, now it's a few times per week. All the segments are canned and usually not-so-timely pieces by Robert Bazell (pronounced BRA-zell by the lisping Brokaw) designed to appeal to the health-conscious viewer. The Sales Department went to advertisers (pharmaceuticals) and sold ADJACENCIES to these segments, charging a premium price to be next to the segments.
Also, to buy the adjacencies, advertisers had to buy long-term contracts, normally 26 or 52 weeks. Which is why you see the same advertisers on night after night after night after night. It's a big profit center for the network.
In the bias department, NBC - for its uncountable faults, is only the third-worst offender. SeeBS and ABC are even worse and much more blatant about it.

André Heinz
André Heinz is active on a broad array of environmental and sustainability issues. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Mr. Heinz participated in establishing an American branch of the groundbreaking Swedish environmental education group, The Natural Step. Mr. Heinz became familiar with the principles of green design and sustainable community building while working as a special projects assistant for the architect and environmental designer William McDonough. Mr. Heinz is one of John Heinz's sons.

Theodore E. Stebbins, Jr.
Dr. Stebbins holds a law degree and a doctorate in Art History from Harvard University. Recognized as one of the foremost authorities on American Art, in 2000, Dr. Stebbins was appointed the Distinguished Fellow and Consultative Curater of American Art at Harvard's Fogg Art Museum. Previous to his appointment at the Fogg Museum, he was the Head of the Department of Paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Dr. Stebbins was a schoolmate of John Heinz at both Phillips Exeter Academy and Yale University.
S. Donald Wiley
Mr. Wiley is currently a member of the Board of the Vira I. Heinz Endowment. He has served on the board of directors of both the H. J. Heinz Company and the H. J. Heinz Company Foundation and is currently a director of Weighco, Inc., a trustee of Carnegie Mellon University and a trustee of Westminister College.
