Walk carefully on the mid-40 thing there, Gordon. I'm there and haven't had my hormones today. ;o)

I'm 44 (recently) and I assumed these ladies were in their 50's. Listening to these "gals" cackle away (remember the proverbial sewing circle?), I found out a couple of them were in their late 30's the rest in their 40's. How they can have no better self respect to make themselves presentable, if not for their hubby's, but for their own self esteem, is beyond me.

I'm sure the reactions to this little gem are going to be a bit diverse.

Laughter, anger, a hey that sounds good to me to utter contempt for the ideas expressed.

I say this is exactly how a marriage should be. A happy marriage where both parties are satisfied and content.

How can that be you ask.

Well, it' like this...

A good wife will gladly do all these things and more if she has a good husband who is willing to do all the same things for her and is appreciative of these things.

Ok, you say but what is a good husband.

I'm glad you asked because I happen to be an expert in this feild.

A good husband above all else is faithful.

Loving, caring, williing to help out with any chore, routinely does these chores because he seeks to make his wife happy and show his appreciation for all the many things she does for him and the family is they have one.

Exceptions:

10. Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first – remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.

His topics are not more important. They are as equally as important as your topics. He will gladly discuse and ask about your day out of genuine concern and desire to be a part of it and you.

11. Make the evening his. Never complain if he comes home late or goes out to dinner, or other places of entertainment without you.

True but this happens so rarely that you would never complain on that once in a blue moon accassion it does. He want to spend all or most of his leisure time with you. You are his best freind!

14. Don’t complain if he’s late home for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through that day.

True for the late part but if he stays out all night there is a problem and it needs to be discussed. Of course a good husband would never ever stay out all night.

I think that about sums it up. If all couples acted this way towards one another then divorces would never happen.

Well, that is my advice anyway and it has served my wife and I well for nearly 15 years.

Hot passionate sex is always good too. Where both partners are free to do and say what it is that pleases then and the other gladly obliges.

And why you are at it tell your partner how beautiful or handsome they are and that their faults as they see them are in fact attributes and the very things that make you love them and/or lust after them.

"I think men are justifiably hungry for peace and comfort in the home"

I agree.

They deserve it. It's not easy today to work and support a family of four or five...

I agree with you..that *is* sad.

"Some would argue the cause was the women's movement. Others would argue that taxes got ahead of the cost of living, making it a necessity for most to have a two-income family."

It was the so-called "women's movement" and the creepy men behind them (like Henry Beecher, who promoted adultery and pagan tenets).

As for employers, I've had three different ones at interviews tell me with nasty smiles, "I'm not interested in hiring you, but I'd like to have your wife put in an application.

Per family: two jobs at lower pay, two houses, two cars, two of everything where only one was once required for each family (so what are the environmentalists going on about?). This policy fills the labor pool to keep wages down, and it's not enough, obviously. Because with their recent lobbying, they're bringing hordes more from the south.

Corporatism leads directly to socialism. The rival gangs against the bosses are probably going to be taking over, shortly. Policy against family is certainly in place for it
(see former link to Engels' writings on that).

Interesting. Bummer the telephone & cable 'guy' had to mess up this perfect situation. :)

Agreed. Its amazing how something as simple as a pronounced nose, or glasses makes a women uncomfortable, yet can be very attractive.

Your wife is a lucky woman, and I hope she realizes it. You realize that this is a 2-way street. Not all men do. Not all women do either.

The bi-directional support is even more important these days when so many women are working just to keep the family's head above water financially.

Interesting. My mother abided by all the rules set forth in the article and she died a happy woman.

Pronounced nose and glasses on HER? Or HIM?

My hubby has a pronounced nose and I think it's very attractive.

I think that's largely a regional thing. What you describe is the polar opposite of what you'll find here in Dallas, and most other southern states. In California, you'll see less make-up, but people in better physical shape.

There are differences in the value placed on courtesy and traditional roles as well. So, I think you gave your son good advice. ; )

"If the women of the south actually treat men like the women do here in the NE, we're all introuble."

...Dixie Chicks, "Killing Earl." ...sorry, but that's the way it is. In the south as in the north, all men--especially husbands--are either effeminately keeping their mouths shut while their wives "go out with the girls," or they are all consigned to the buffoon/abuser heap. Any man who speaks up is also a "woman hater." Speak up, and grow a thick skin. Or see our daughters enter a world where men try to live up to their generalized reputation as contrived by our media.

I know there are, that's just not what I'm interested in at the moment. Single moms are like a disease where I am, I never thought I would say that type of thing 'til I moved here. Most single moms are looking at men as a meal ticket and nothing else down here. Sorry....I calls 'em as I sees 'em!

I just knew I was missing out. Now I have proof.
