This sort of talk, predictably enough, has provoked cries of "racism" from Muslim advocacy groups and left-wing critics back on his home turf. "We want an apology," demanded Mohammed Javed, chairman of the Muslim Society for Wales. "This could stir up racial hatred in society. It's ignorance, he should learn more about Islam...before he makes these comments." Apology? Hell no! On the contrary, this is an example of precisely what John Rhys-Davies is talking about.

I like this guy!
How can we get autographed pictures? I'll place his next to my framed Ronald Wilson Reagan that hangs in a prominent place in my luxurious office! (A little taunting there for the leftist, ragged trolls who lurk in the hallowed halls of Free Republic!)

The oft cited atrocities pinned on the Christians in that era are bogus. Authentic Christians, not the institutional, religious and cultural Christian whores of that time, are representative of what God wants. Of course, the same argument can be made of the 'peaceful' religion of Islam.
However, I am quite aware the Koran teaches war against infidels in various parts of its ever poetical ramblings. However, the Good Book teaches no such thing. So, the question is "Who was/is really following their religion and who was/is perverting it?". Answer that question and you have an answer to your problem with the Inquistions, etal.
Jesus addressed this a few years back when He said, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord', will enter the kingdom of heave, but only he who does the will of my Father in heaven...then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"

When John Rhys-Davies talked about feeling like the few Christians during the reign of Caligula, I remembered that he played a murderous Roman Centurion in "I, Claudius" many years ago; he knows whereof he speaks.

heave=heaven. Let's hope no one sees the two as synonymous
To: xsysmgr
Interesting comparison of the two - Legolas has a complex understanding of Islamic Jihad, the value of Muslim society, and the prospect of Muslim immigration & birth rates changing the nature of European society.
While Aragorn chants "No Blood for Oil" - a shallow ignorant cartoonish view of the conflict thats better directed at France and Russia (barrels of oil from Saddam to diplomats who looked the other way).

Just like when the Christians became a majority over the Pagans. And when the Pagan Romans took over the Jewish lands.

Is he the same guy that was on Sliders as the portly professor? That show had some pretty decent hidden political comment in it from time to time. The very same. But, for me, originally he made a very favorable impression as the navigator in Shogun.

"Last year, 56 percent of the babies born in Brussels were Muslim," Rhys-Davies notes. "In a matter of 20-50 years, we are going to see two to three countries become predominately Muslim Holland, France, and possibly Germany." Crab people! Tastes like crab, talks like people!

Simply being Welsh, he knows whereof he speaks.
There were even laws that forbade the Welsh speaking their own language in their own country after the Anglos "assimilated" them.
I can't imagine how -any- Welsh, Irish or Scots could support any "liberal/PC/multicultural" views.
Historically speaking, they should all know better.
When outright war failed to defeat them, they were all "conquered" simply by being systematically "replaced" by the invader's cultures, in their own countries.

You know very well that pagans were persecuted and killed for their faith all over Europe from the time Christians became a majority until the witchcraft trials ended in the 18th century.

Once Muslims become a majority, the minority won't have a choice.
It will be 'Islam or the Sword' Yep, and it's going to make WWII look like a Sunday School picnic.

The only reason Christians haven't done this kind of thing lately is that they haven't had to.What an ignorant statement. Even in the most recent historical examples of Christian brutality (against Native Americans) there was considerable condemnation of the practice from within Christendom; the dissenters pointed out that such barbarity was against Christ's teachings. Where is the parallel condemnation of Sharia from within mainstream Islam? If it's there at all, it's pretty tepid. And such Islamic dissenters as there are can't make the case that forced conversions & stonings are betrayals of the teachings of Muhammad.

Judaism is a religion, not a race. I guess that's why people who hate Jews are called anti-semite as opposed to racist. Is there a word for people who hate Muslims? Probably not since it's okay to hate Jews but it isn't okay to hate Muslims.
