Some people are roaming Houston streets right now trying to hold people up and it would seem very willing to unload their revolver into non-compliant victims.
I saw this first hand last night in another part of town, similar circumstances although no shots were fired.
I was filling up my car at the Exxon on Memorial and Highway 6 around 7:00 PM. While inside the store a lady came in to report someone in a dark colored small SUV/Jeep (actually and man and a woman) pulled a gun on her while she was gassing up and told her to give them her purse. She said no, another car pulled up at the same time and the crooks got nervous and drove off. She said she thought they had a toy gun. Incredibly lucky of her to avoid getting shot.
I guess they came up on the HWY 6 side where she was gassing up because it would be easy off, easy on and a short trip to I-10 without a chance of being blocked in while trying to leave the station.
We called the police for her while inside the station and she filed her report. Be alert.

"It took the ambulance 15 to 17 minutes to get here. I couldn't believe it. Here in the medical center," said Ryan Snyder, assistant manager at Kubo's.

We were told to take extra precautions in our area, which is right in the middle of an area that has become hot for armed robbery. About fifteen places around us have been hit, which is so suprising because it's such a busy populated area.

15 to 17 minutes is a lousy response time for a GSW.

This line jumped out at me:
"Witnesses sitting outside one of the shopping center's restaurants said they were just having their first beer when the wounded woman ran up asking for help."
having their first beer at two in the afternoon? Odd.

1) This is the fourth largest city in the country, and we do have a share of scumbags.
2) These perps are running a large risk of getting shot dead, as lots of people carry both legally and illegally, and no jury here would ever convict the victims, and most likely would never indict them.

Also, in case you were unaware, Rice Village (as in the University) is where a lot of college kids hang out.

Way-all this IS Texas...
Seriesly, my friends ate at that restaurant for lunch today. They must have left about a half hour before it happened. We usually park in that garage. I'm in the medical center right nearby and I have to walk a klick to get to my car in the "South Extension Lot". Lovely to know there are shooters cruising around.

No offense, but it's a bit of a stretch to tie the two events together and call them related.
Both locations are not exactly what I'd call "bad" parts of town--the ExxonMobil station is in the heart of what we call the "Energy Corridor", home to many major oil and oil service companies here in town (BP's main campus here in town is about a quarter-mile from that Exxon station).
Rice Village is a pretty nifty part of town, too, bordering the Med Center and Rice Univ. In broad daylight, too.
Pretty gutsy.

Just joking, everyone. But not really
I lived around Houston from 2 years of age until about 25 years of age. Spent a lot of time in SE Texas and SW Louisiana afterwards. There were entire years where wed have a 12 pack in us by noon
the serious drinking started later on after work.
Thats not a lie or exaggeration, BTW.

I don't care if they are related. I do care that I witnessed this first hand last night and would feel awful if it happened to another when they could have been warned.
