February 29, 2004 -- Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" has become such a huge phenomenon so fast that campaign analysts are starting to ponder political fallout on the 2004 election - and some Democrats have got the jitters. "Whenever religion becomes a central topic of discussion, Democrats don't do so well, and now it's really out there," said a Democratic activist, who thinks the film links into concern on gay marriage and even Janet Jackson's breast flash.

Hmmmm, I wonder why those humanist, secular leftist types just don't appreciate the movie?

"Kerry is Catholic"

Yeah, and so's the King of France. Hey, maybe Kerry's the King of France. I used to be Archbishop of Canterbury.

Kerry isn't Catholic, he's toast, French toast!

Moral Relativism was the Democrats best tool. It WAS unfair to judge anyone. There was no right, no wrong. No good, no evil.

This movie is only reminding people of right and wrong. Love and indifference. The tool of the Democrat party is to confuse and to obscure with feelings. Homosexual marriage is only supported by feeeelings that if to people enjoy feeelings together then all standards are irrelevant.
Every single argument of the homosexuals is founded in the concept that no notion of right and wrong is valid in light of a feeeeling to the contrary.

This easter will be of greater importance to the election too. I hope Carl Rove is making notes to tap into the faithful. I hope priests are making notes to get out the notion of supporting marriage as one man and one woman only.

Personally I hope this remembering carries over to this Christmas. This was the most PC Christmas ever. No chrismas trees, only pine trees. No nativity scenes, not even a plastic reindeer. People have been moved in their hearts with the easter gift, will they remeber His birth?

Does the Democrat Party know something? or were they reminded of a truth they have always feared? Either way they don't feeeeel happy.

This really shows what a panic the left is in this year. They are terrified of "October surprises" in the form of OBL's capture, they are terrified that a movie will cause their bankrupt philosophy to be exposed and their only hope is that these events come early enough to be forgotten by election time. Their only hope is lies with the short term memory of the American electorate.

they are terrified that a movie will cause their bankrupt philosophy to be exposed

And isn't it ironic that the movie is doing so well that the media will continue steady coverage, if only because it's making Big Buck$. (The only language that impresses Hollywood.)

So no matter how much they want it to go away, their own greedy values will keep it newsworthy. Delicious, isn't it?

I'd love to hope Hollywood might begin to make better movies as a result, but I won't hold my breath. I'm sure if they do, it won't be motivated by any deep desire for better quality. LOL

Does anyone know if Gibson has plans for another project anytime soon?

Interesting point.

Kerry can be possitive AND concered about The Passion.

Since his parents were Jewish (I believe) he can voice the same concernce of the Rabbi Pundits about anti-semitism AND have a statement about being deeply moved if he sees it.

He could have stands on both sides of the issue.

I don't want to sound sacrilegious but I see Mel as being in his own passion from this movie and he is not divine. I think he will be emotionally and physically drained for quite some time. Admittedly this is from a not very religious person but just observing what he has been through to make this movie is almost more than I can imagine.

Well, Mel can always run for President in 2008.
That might be relaxing by comparison!
