Proposition 57 authorizes the state to borrow up to $15 billion to pay off short-term loans that come due in June and to help close next year's budget gap, expected to be about $17 billion.

Most experts agree that without the bonds, California's already bleak economic outlook would turn decidedly worse. The measure also could have an effect on other areas of the nation's economy, with Wall Street investors closely watching the vote.

I am voting NO. However, my gut feeling is that it will pass, sadly. I see the polls are showing it climbing & the electronic voting machines that can be fixed w/o anyone challanging it. What a great way for pols to take all of your money as you blame your fellow citizen. Whether the polls are correct or not all that they have to do is fake them somewhat & legitimize the fraud. Trust but verify - when you can not verify don't trust.

I'm voting NO as well. And even with this $15 billion, we'll still be in deficit for at least two more years? Whatever happened to Arnold's plan of auditing the books and cutting all that crazy deficit spending? I guess he didn't really mean it. Silly me.

So why the silence regarding my query over your recent news letter which made no reference to Prop 57/58 when the statewide organization opposes the two measures
