.303 isn't the most powerful cartridge out there, but it'll get the job done without breaking the bank or your shoulder.

If you think 125 grn sp hunting ammo will poke a hole, check out some 200 grn cupronickle bullets. I got some from a friend of mine and loaded 'em up to normal powder levels. Punched right through a 4 cyl. Honda engine block from 50m and ended up stuck in the frame supporting the bumper.
Kevlar vests ain't even going to stop it, much less a "trauma" plate or the cheese-ball armor the JBTs prance around in while "protecting' us from evil...
Amazing what 100 year old bullets can do out of a 90 year old rifle.

It did so as the standard British service rifle cartridge from 1888 to 1955, soldiering on at least a decade after that here and there in British service, and continues to this day elsewhere, still seen in the hands of police and auxiliaries in Nepal, as well as being the most common weaopon in use by the other side there.

Note though that the British went through several permutations of ammunition, and similarly, you should likely consider a couple of different possible loads to increase the versatility of your Enfields. They're likely the best buy on the current market for an individual needing a good rifle.

Nah. I prefer depleted uranium slugs in .50 cal. Blow a hole in an Abrams...
