Believe me, the news media would love to anoint a "hero" in this story, right now, all they have are photos of a line of men who look like a feminized version of Clay Aiken, and women who look like K. D. Lang, and its not that photogenic. I saw ABC News tonight, and they really want to make Newsom into the poster child for this, all they need is a perp walk to make him look like a victim of George Bush and Arnold Schwartzenegger.

A large number of Woodward-and-Bernstein wannabes is waiting for their shot at a Pulitzer Prize for bringing the civil rights story of this century to the public. Waiting for the courts to act is slow, but it makes for less dramatic theatre. The media is hovering out there, looking for the next Lester Maddox, and the next Martin Luther King.

At some point after the crowd thinned, the police were unleashed, and heads began to roll. Battles erupted everywhere and many fought back valiantly. Tree limbs and parking meters and pieces of asphalt were used as weapons. These were not limp-wristed fairies. These were real men fighting for what they believed in. Police suffered nearly as many casualties as the resistance. The people were eventually driven from the Civic Center and the slower ones suffered the wrath of the overzealous officers. They pushed people down to Market Street where many store windows had already been broken by rioting vandals.

WE WERE AT WAR WITH THE POLICE! People came from every direction to join the resistance and we moved the invading forces right back up to the corner. They appeared to be leaving but they somehow regrouped at the corner of 18th and Castro. We stood and watched as they marched into the Elephant Walk, smashing windows, doors, tables, chairs, bottles, and peoples' heads. Some victims needed to be hospitalized. These police were vicious. They were very unprofessional. They were out for blood.

There is a time when the rule of law is worthless. The wicked need to be stopped and their decedent trend reversed, by peace or force. I do not want to live in a world where my future children, or my young brothers will see homosexuals and pedophiles treated with reverence. I pray for peaceful change but often evil sees no need to change on its own accord.

There are plenty of other laws we can break, starting tomorrow. Any citation received for any law broken, will quickly result in a discrimination lawsuit, because "equal protection" requires, that if gays are allowed to break the law, then so should we ALL be allowed to do so.

I understand the aversion many folks here at FR have for watching CBS, ABC, and/or NBC news, but very many Americans get their national news from them. They have NOT been portraying Newsom as objective evil. I couldn't find a transcript, or excerpts from, the Newsom interview I saw earlier this evening, but ABC News' website had this:

Newsom said on CNN's "Late Edition" that there was no basis for comparing laws on gay marriage to gun control.

"It's not about AK-47s," he said. "It's not about these other hypotheticals. It's about human beings. It's about human dignity. ... It's about, I think, holding truth, faith and allegiance to the Constitution."

Doesn't sound to me like ABC is trying to demonize the guy. Its the same in the print media, yesterday, my local newspaper had some quotes from Newsom mentioning Rosa Parks. He practically invited comparison of himself to her, in that she didn't wait to see what a court said, when she decided where to sit on the bus.

Right now, there are a lot of folks in the mushy middle who are still a bit shocked by this, but in time, they'll get over it. If conservatives who oppose gay marriage want to have half a chance of even getting a majority vote in Congress to keep federal judges from exporting gay marriage from Massachusetts and California, they had better find an articulate spokesperson who resorts to something besides religion, procreation, or the ick factor to explain to the mushy middle just how they're right to feel that way about gay marriage. Otherwise, the media will guilt trip them out of it, and by the time a Massachusetts vote could be taken two and a half years from now, it will have trouble mustering even a 40% yes vote.

Mayor/Felon Newsome is issuing bogus documents.
Two state judges have refused to issue an injunction @ this time.
If by judicial fiat, a judge declares homosexual {marriage} legal, the US Congress could, though the exception rule in USC Article 3, Section 2, Clause 2, reinstate the Law & declare the issue off-limits to the courts.
