Teachers' Union Recognizes 'Ex-Gay' Educators

(CNSNews.com) - A group of "ex-gay" educators has officially registered with the nation's largest teachers union, thus ensuring that its views will be heard.

The Ex-Gay Educators' Caucus has joined the many other "registered" caucuses that lobby the National Education Association to make policy changes.

"We regard it as their right to lobby the NEA," said NEA spokesperson Kathleen Lyons in a press release confirming the registration of the Ex-Gay Educators' Caucus.

Lyons added that official recognition of the Ex-Gay Educators does not mean that the National Education Association endorses the group's viewpoint. In fact, the NEA has promoted a booklet that argues against the possibility of changing one's sexual orientation.

By registering the "ex-gay" group, the NEA settles a long-simmering dispute.

As CNSNews.com reported last year, an "ex-gay" group (PFOX) accused the NEA of discrimination for denying PFOX space at the 2002 NEA convention in Dallas and then again at the 2003 NEA convention in New Orleans.

At the time, PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays) said the NEA was trying to silence ex-gay schoolteachers - while allowing pro-homosexual groups to distribute literature and other information at the NEA conventions.

PFOX even filed a complaint with the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights.

Jeralee Smith, chair of the new Ex-Gay Educators' Caucus, said the group hopes to educate the NEA about the needs of ex-gay students and teachers. "We feel that this group can help educate the NEA concerning the existence of former homosexuals," Smith said.

Smith said the caucus plans to apply for exhibit space at this summer's NEA convention in Washington, D.C. It has just set up a website, promising "more information to follow."

It is incredible, our nation's teachers seem to have a finger in every pie, except the one about reading, writing and 'rithmetic.

If one cannot change one's "orientation," then explain the phenomenon called bisexuality.

Also, what about intergenerational attraction? Beastiality? If someone is attracted to pets, can they change? How about rape? If someone is turned on by force, can they change?

The "cannot change" theory first of all doesn't add up. Second, it is no excuse -- it doesn't prove morality.

I'm starting to get annoyed with all this "gay" stuff, and having it crammed down our throats!

I don't care what people do behind closed doors, as long as another person's constitutional rights are not violated behind those closed doors, but this crap's gotta stop!

These creeps want to OVERTAKE our country's foundation and force their perversion as EQUAL to our morals. Well, that's bullcrap!

Go GWB! LET'S GET OUR CONSTITUTION AMENDED NOW!

Dr. Robert L. Spitzer played a pivotal role in the 1973 decision by the APA to remove homosexuality as a mental illness. Spitzer used to believe homosexuals couldn't change but after studying the results of therapy he now believes homosexuals can change:

"I thought that homosexual behavior could be resisted--but that no one could really change their sexual orientation. I now believe that's untrue--some people can and do change."

Spitzer completely changed his mind whether or not some homosexuals can change.

Now send this group to every school district with a GLSEN and a Gay/straught (dating) aliance club.

This is an important toe hold.

Do they have corporate sponsors? Will diversity allow them to be denied?

some people can and do change

That strikes me as an odd thing for a psychologist to say. How about these:

Some people can learn to speak French.
Some people can learn to walk.
Some people can learn to use chopsticks.

Now, of course "some people" are born with problems that make these things impossible -- but that an understandable anomaly. Basically, anyone can learn these things. And just as clearly, some people DO change their sexual orientation. So why say a wishy-washy thing like "some people can and do change"?

Why not say "Anyone can change their sexual orientation, and some people do". That's an accurate statement.

It's odd, isn't it?
They argue that murderers ought to be let out because they can change and be rehabilitated. It would follow, then
if they couldn't be changed and rehabilitated, it'd be okay to kill them.

Yet they argue that homosexuals can't change.

Odd, isn't it?

bewary of using orientation. The homosexuals made a calculation of outlawing the use of the word sexual preference because preferences can change. Orientation implies a fixed point.

It is used to cloud the behavior issue.

It as issue of "tactile stimulation" and what plumbing you were born with and what sexual behavior society has an obligation to publicly sanction for purposes of marrige.

Orientation also implies feelings. Oriented to feel good a certain way. How can we deny somebody feeling good? and leting them marry so they can feeel good more often? (Do people in Nevada get Sex Stamps to go with Food Stamps so they can feel good using brothels?)
