**It was sooooo cool--till Dale E. got killed in the last lap.**

Yeah, I bet that put a damper on things...

***I really do have to get to bed........he called at 5:30 this morning, and I'm BEAT!***

Well, one more day closer to when he'll be back. Find any more pictures to put in his scrapbook?

(Be sure to let Mr. ohio get some sleep! :-) )

Are you a NASCAR fan? It was a pretty good one. They changed some rules so it was more exciting. There was one big wreck, which was kind of scary, but everyone was OK.

What a FUN day for us supporters of President Bush -- nothing like a patriotic NASCAR event to erase thoughts of JFnK from our minds!

Night all!

It was totally awesome! I like racing so much because, for the most part, the drivers and their crews are 'nice guys.' Now I'm sure that's not totally true of every person, or every team, and yes there are temper tantrums once in awhile. . . but in general, everyone is very nice. Fans too!

As we were leaving, they still didn't know, or hadn't announced that he had died. But my husband and bro-in-law had radio headsets and had them tuned in to the FOX news reporters, and said they could hear them all crying during the commercial breaks.

Our daughter, who was just 7 at the time, cried inconsolably as we walked out--somehow she just 'knew'

The next day was our last day in Florida. We went to Universal Studios, and the had a NASCAR Cafe, I think it was. In front there were squares with NASCAR drivers names on them, and on Dale's people were leaving souvenirs. It made me cry. The kids had collected some cheap neclaces or something that was throw off a float during a parade, and they left them there in the evening. It was very touching.

We still do remember it as our best family vacation (so far at least!)

You are a wonderful daughter! About the roses--I do know just what you mean. That outlook can be said of much that happens in life.

Freepmail to you in five minutes. :-)

Funny, a Commander in chief who should NOT visit the troops, a President who should NOT comfort his countrymen at ground zero, they would have him NOT communicate at all with the American people. That's because, in spite of what they say, President Bush CONNECTS with people when he gets out there. He should do it more often...

I lost my son when he was 37, and I empathize with your overwhelming sense of loss and the futility of it. Time and faith. That is the only answer. Until time has passed let yourself feel. Crying is good, restorative. You and I cry for our loss, not for the departed who are with God. Consider yourself hugged.

No hangovers... just tired, and the depression that hits when you turn 35.

When I turned 40, I told everyone at work that I did not want any Over the Hill or Grim Reapers. I don't like them. I brought in my own decoration; a poster I hung outside my office. It said...

"NOW I'm a Dirty Old Lady!
I've waited all my life for this moment."

And thank you for the pictures. They were just what I was looking for. I am sorry I did not get back to you right away. We had a very dear family friend pass away. She was my second Mom. She had been in the hospital for a few weeks with pnuemonia, and had a heart attack. In the rush of everything, I forgot to thank you.

You are in our prayers, MamaB. I'm so sorry you have to experience this. The support group and books will help you with the logical response side of the grieving process, and time will be the other half of the equation. It's comforting to know that others have felt this type of pain, and having people to vent how it feels to, helps, also.

The pain will probably come and go in "waves" too. It just sucks being human sometimes, but know you have those that love you, near.

Here's a blue palm ...blue is a healing color. Big hugs!

I had the opportunity to see AF1 come in to Milwaukee a few times (my DH works at the airport) and it is one of the most awesome sites there is. And when the controllers said something like *Good Morning Air Force One* it just gave me chills!!!

A great plane to watch!
