The interview was fine. Bush isn't Winston Churchill when it comes to this kind of thing. So what? He spent an hour with Russert and he made no mistakes. He gave nothing to his adversaries. That's all that matters. The economy is doing well, and so is the war. We're going to win.

I'd say you have it exactly right. President Bush needs some tuning up for his debates with Kerry who did a pretty fair job against Weld last time. This is a good way to do it, far out from the election and with the top guns of media interviewers.
