Just got back to the computer and read your response--my thoughts exactly...on top of everything else, a certain lack of courtesy and respect for the President

I love Cheney. I wish he would go on shows more.

His calm reasonable and eminently trustworthy demeanor makes me just feel reassured.

And he manages to make all the lib interviewers look totally stupid.

No he was in the 136th. He flew F-102 and later F-106 interceptor aircraft from the former Ellington AFB (now Ellington Field a joint ANG/Nasa facility). Together the 136th and the 147th make up the 47th Fighter Wing, TXANG.

That's what boggles me. In between my prior and current hitch in the regular army...I spent three years in the Tx Army National Guard. In a nutshell it's a whole other world in the Guard when it comes to making drill dates etc.

OF COURSE, THE THIRD PARTY VOTERS ARE MOST LIKELY LIBERAL LURKERS WHO WANT TO CREATE A FISSURE ON THE right-- the Left knows it needs to divide us to win, and they are trying to foment such a division.

fair enough.

but the hatred of Bush (why they hate him, I have no idea. disagreeing with him on policies is one thing, but they hate him) whipped into the Dem base will bring them out in 2004.

I don't get NBC or CBS on my satellite, only get NBC local. Hope to catch it this afternoon on MSNBC; very anxious to see it. How do you think the President did?

I agree. The President did not stammer. He has a distinctive speech pattern and it is attractive.

He doesn't sound like a smooth con man. He sounds like an honest person, expressing himself carefully, but honestly.

Haven't you heard about this height issue before in elections? It does seem to be true most of the times. That is what I'm talking about. Btw, I am short. ;)

Some times maybe. Kerry's ugly mug may actually be accentuated by his height. I really wouldn't worry about the height issue. I remember how President Bush made Gore look like a lumbering oaf in the debates. He really does have such a fine character and such leadership ability that Kerry is going to look very French in contrast.

The Rats gave themselves that name.

Oh, Rats ? GOP Yanks Ad

Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000

Republican presidential nominee George W. Bush said Tuesday his campaign has dropped a controversial television ad in which the word "RATS" flashes briefly on the screen.

The ad, created by the Republican National Committee, criticizes Democrat presidential nominee Al Gore's Medicare plan. The ad mentions and flashes the word "bureaucrats" and then takes the last four letters of that word and flashes on the screen, for about one-thirtieth of a second, in large, capital letters: RATS.

Speaking to reporters in Orlando, Fla., Bush said he was convinced the inclusion of the word was not intentional but said the advertisement would no longer be used.

"This ad is coming out of rotation, it turns out, anyway," Bush said. "In other words, it is not going to be played any more.

"Conspiracy theories abound in America's politics," he added. "I don't think we need to be subliminal about the differences between our views on prescription drugs. That's where the debate ought to be."

Bush earlier dismissed as "bizarre" and "weird" the allegation that the GOP contained a subliminal message.

Gore said he wasn't happy about the ad.

"I think it's a disappointing development," Gore said. "I have never seen anything like it."

I accidentally happened upon Wolf Blitzer. He has Zbigniew Brzezeniski on attacking Bush. Here is the latest thing they are now saying...that Bush gave the "clear impression" that the threat was imminent even though he didn't actually say it. What a crock.

"20 minutes til I get to watch. From the sound of Russert's rude demeanor, I think I might be wishing I could afford to take a hammer to the TV!"

I think these reporter/pundits have holdings in Motorola, Sony....maybe GE. I'm certain you feel less likely to use the hammer since you've seen President Bush. I left the thread to watch with my daughter...then watched a DVD.

President Bush looked tired, but he handled the interview skillfully, IMO. He did not let Russert exert control over what and when he said something and seemed totally unrehearsed. The reiteration of his position to redundant questions by Russert was in the words of my daughter, "Like explaining something to a three-year-old".

A pompous sounding orator President Bush is NOT, but I'll take him any day before one of 'those'. Thank goodness he didn't mention the word FIGHT!

Television sets intact in Tampa!

I disagree, if he dumped Cheney now, it would be open season. That would be the blood in the water, to dump him would say, "He has served me badly and we have made many mistakes." That would be a terrible thing to do-- I for one, despite the unfair, relentless attacks on Cheney by the Left, think he is a brilliant guy and a good Veep.

Don't bother giving me the "send a message" nonsense. I don't buy it.

It's the only choice we have as a way to try to convince our elected Republicans to actually be Conservative Republicans.

Supporting Conservatism does not necessarily mean me voting for Bush. He will win my state regardless. Supporting Conservatism does mean not voting for Botox Kerry or any of the Dims.

If the message you send the Repubs is "Do what ever you want, I'm behind you all the way", well don't be surprised when the Repubs do exactly that: anything they choose.

People or sheeple, it's up to you.

It may surprise you, but you and I probably agree on most of the elements regarding the border/immigration issues. Our disagreement is in the way the problem solving is handled. I also think I trust the president more than you appear to.

I have to agree with you (again) on the immigration thing.

There are ten million elephants sitting over in the corner of the room.

The democrats would prefer to ignore them, maybe they'll wander away.

The President, courageous as always, acknowledges the elephants and attempts to find a fair way of dealing with them, or at least address the problem and open it up to serious discussion.

If you ignore it, it will just get worse. He didn't bring all these illegal immigrants into the country. Years of neglect by both parties (but especially dems)did that.

He is just the first one to acknowledge the problem and try to solve it. I admire him for that. He may not have a perfect solution -- there may not be a perfect solution.

But he's at least trying.

I know how important it is that Saddam is gone and how important it is to the whole middle east that he is gone.

Libya is coming along nicely with owning up to their WMD and the fact that our troops are over there smack up against some other borders is a nice persuader.

God bless our armed forces.

Your comments about the commercials are as crude as the ads themselves.
