John Kerry: AWOL Senator

The Hill, Jan. 14,2004

http://www.thehill.com/news/011404/gephardt.aspx

The little-noticed law, 2 USC Sec. 39, reads: “The Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Administrative Officer of the House … shall deduct from the monthly payments (or other periodic payment authorized by law) of each Member or Delegate the amount of his salary for each day that he has been absent from the Senate or House, respectively, unless such Member or Delegate assigns as the reason for such absence the sickness of himself or of some member of his family.”

The ACU. . . plans to target Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), who missed 237 votes last year, 59 percent of the total.

The Washington Times, Jan. 15, 2004

http://washingtontimes.com/national/20040115-120724-2359r.htm

The ACU. . . demanded that Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts and Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut repay 59 percent and 54 percent of their salaries, respectively.

New York Post, January 30, 2004 Friday

According to the Congressional Budget Office, President Bush's 2004 defense budget - $470 billion - is the largest [defense budget] in U.S. history. Kerry was absent for that vote.

(of course, Kerry lied during the January 29th debate, saying, "I have voted for the largest defense budgets in the history of our country," though the record shows he missed that vote."  The New York Post, January 30, 2004).

GANNETT NEWS SERVICE, November 25, 2003

Regarding the Medicare vote:

"Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina, two of Lieberman's rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, attended Monday's procedural votes. Edwards voted against final passage of the Medicare bill on Tuesday and Kerry missed the vote to campaign in Iowa."

The New York Times, November 24, 2003

Regarding the vote on the Energy Bill

"In addition, given the narrowness of Friday's vote, it would be useful if three senators who missed the vote -- each a sworn opponent of the bill -- would actually show up when Mr. Frist tries again to shut down the filibuster. The three are Ernest Hollings of South Carolina and two candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination, John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina."

And so on, and so forth.

The bottom line is, Kerry has put his campaign above his constituents.  He is an AWOL Senator who has deserted his constituents in Massachusetts to further his own, selfish political interests.

It's safer with Kerry, Edwards, and Lieberman absent from Senate votes.

The silver lining to this campaign is that there is an excellent possibility that Kerry will resign to campaign and be absent from the Senate forever.

Kerry's not going to win, so long as the media is focused on John Edwards, and John Edwards isn't going to be president so long as he keeps bringing up the same tired old rhetoric the Democrats have been spouting for 40 years. Add to the fact that the Democrats main platform is formed on "Hate Bush". They may think it's cool, cute, and classy now, but by November voters are going to be sick and tired of it.

I wouldn't waste my time on Kerry. Everyone was worried about Dean at one time, and Dean imploded. Kerry will self implode as well. Matter of fact, the last guy standing in November will be Bush, because each one of the Democrats are unelectable.

I would like a response from the RNC to the RATS to be something like this.

"Rather than focusing on unsubstantiated and irresponsible rumors regarding President Bush's service in the National Guard 30 years ago, The Democrats should be more concerned with John Kerry's more recent AWOL record in the Senate."

I am sort of confused here. With all of these RATs MIA, why not take advantage of this situation and bring up some judge nominations again? It was my understanding that we were only missing out by a few votes.

Or am I just confused?

If Kerry were to resign or be removed, the Republican Governor of Mass. would appoint his replacement.

Here is an email I sent to Hannity's show (based on some of your comments):

"Rather than focusing on unsubstantiated and irresponsible rumors regarding President Bush's service in the National Guard 30 years ago, The Democrats should be more concerned with John Kerry's more recent AWOL record in the Senate.

Kerry missed missed 237 votes last year, 59 percent of the total. Kerry has effectively deserted his constituents.

Kerry, this year, missed the vote on the defense budget; he later lied about the vote, saying during a debate that, "I have voted for the largest defense budgets in the history of our country." He did not -- he missed that vote.

Kerry is an AWOL Senator."

It would be great if you all would copy and paste this and send it to Hannity as well (he will take notice if we all send it). The webform is here:

Thanks!!!
