February 4, 2004 -- ALBANY - Evoking the image of Custer's last stand, one of Wesley Clark's chief backers in New York said yesterday it appeared the former general's race for the Democratic presidential nomination might be over.

"I think the general is about to meet Sitting Bull," said state Senate Minority Leader David Paterson, a Manhattan Democrat.

Kerry is just about not dying off as a political party.

Kerry is a plea to the rank and file to not kill off the party.

The DemocRATs may think that Kerry is electable, but:

1)Kerry was the Lt. Governor under Michael Dukakis
2)Kerry is the junior Senator for Massachusetts, and has almost the same voting record as the senior Senator, Edward Kennedy
3)Kerry marched in antiwar protests with Jane Fonda
4)Kerry's wife is worth over a half-billion dollars, so that causes all kinds of problems for the usual class warfare arguments

In reality, Kerry only looks electable because he is seen with Dean, Lieberman, Sharpton, Clark and Mosely-Braun. When he has to stand next to Bush, he will lose big time.

I think somehow the leftist democrats want kerry because of just his military reocrd. He fought but was still a war protester.

Poor clark he was just a general. His new uniform includes a red shirt, his new rank is that of ensign, ensign expendable.

Kerry's strategy is to concede the entire South, and work on picking off selected Red states like Ohio and New Hampshire.

This strategy will put 5 open Rat Southern senate seats in serious jeopardy.

Which is why John Edwards will most likely be the V.P. candidate. His job will be to bring in South Carolina and any other southern states.

*sigh* You know, I actually am really starting to feel for those RATs. Not the party, but the people who put them in office.

You got Dean who was actually bringing back the greenies into the party; who was actually running on his own platform that mirrored what the party platform was; who had good success to back himself up with who is now being cast aside by the party because he's 'unelectable.' If the 'people' want change, looking to someone who actually changed how the RATs conduct business was a good idea.

Then you got Clark - he is still a Democrat this week, right? Or did Rove finally give him the call so he'd be a Republican? Hard to keep his stories straight -- Not quite sure why the Clinton's pulled this guy up to be their straw man, but whatever it was they should put him back away in the closet and pretend this never happened. Unfortunately, the time to do that was Monday -- instead they now have a strawman who won a state and came in second or third in most others... Though I keep seeing on some parts of Yahoo that Clark picked up North Dakota too.

Kerry -- Didn't they learn last time that Dukakis was a poor idea from the get go? Now you got F'n Dukakis, a man with no platform, no policy, and no chance at the White House. By the time he limps out of the convention there will be howls from within and without the party for Nader to get his parade going. He's as inspirational as, uhh.. Well, no one. Ted Kennedy could at least sock away a few drinks and come back 'fighting' but Kerry's idea is, well, nothing. Wife a huge liability too on the national stage.

Edwards - is there a place he won't move to so as to become a candidate? Windowdressing and supposed VP shoo-in, he's got lawyer written all over him and a bunch sticking out of his pockets as well. His candidacy has 'fifteen minutes' written all over it; stick him back into the stew pot and see if he's worthwhile in 2008 - that is if he hasn't already moved into lobbyist land by then.

The slate stinks, but of the four, at least Dean had a bit of honestly behind him. From a party perspective, I'm happy to see him basically knocked out. Makes it pretty much assured that Bush wins in November, and likely with good coattails. A Kerry v Bush run should set the RATs back at least another four years if not further. A Dean v Bush would have been much tighter, especially after the debates, and given new life into the RATs.

So, while I privately mourn Dean's declining fortunes, I'll cheer Kerry's new status and hope that he has to wait until the near bitter end to wrap up the nomination. I'll watch the Deanie Greenies abandon the RATs yet again, the Teenie Deanies realize that their voice in the RAT party means nothing and they'll lose interest in politics for a decade, and the Sideshow Freaks will realize that their too quick leap onto the Dean bandwagon means that they lost their voice at the convention.

If Kerry does a "every man for himself" strategy, how bad will it be for the Democrat Party's future if they loose more seats in the senate, loose more house seats and again loose the presidency?

If he is doing that now, it sends a message about what trouble the Democrats believe they are in.

Well, Clinton was able to seize power and hold on to it by screwing the rest of the Democrat party. Look what happened to it under his watch. I doubt Kerry cares.

I'm not sure the Rats care either. They're focused like a laser beam on getting rid of Bush. They just hate the fact that our national defense policy is coming from Washington DC, and not UN Headquarters. Friggin' traitors. Every last one of them.
