The Superbowl has become one long commerical event with a football game that breaks out in between spots.

It's gotten to where I don't even care about the game anymore (last year was an exception, since the Tampa Bay Bucs were in it and won it). I barely watched this one, which was a terrible shame since it was such a good game. I just get so burned out on the overblown media hype, and the buzz about which ads are going to be the best, and all of the other crap that has nothing to do with football.

Exactly!!!. This is what I was saying all day. This need for cheap publicity came as no surprise (Timberlake used to date the other cheap publicity loser/Madonna-kisser: Britney Spears) while their denial that it was not planned and was not intentional is about as intellectually insulting as can be. To have a song with the lyrics "I want you naked by the end of this song" sung a moment before Timberlake removes the pull-off piece of Jackson's attire then followed by a poor attempt to look surprised and to then to say it was an accident just is below any standard level of credibility.

On one of the news shows tonight they said Janet's response was that the black part of her outfit was to come off and only reveal the red bra she had on under it. So she is admitting that it was pre-planned.

I could almost buy this as an explanation. A couple of the pictures of her face after the fact were either very good acting or else a real 'OH s***' look. As others have said the actual flash was just the culmination of a very inappropriate half-time show.

My protest to the trash that was emerging on television four years ago was to cancel cable. I read a lot more and my fourteen year old only gets the trash at his Dad's house half of the week. Boy, culture shock sure sets in, though, when you go out to see a game and this type of thing hits you.

The ads for t.v. shows coming up are weird if you have been away from it. My husband and I just look at each other perplexed!

I guess it's now time to further protest - I'm taking Laura Ingraham up on her suggestion. She has given out the addresses of the Superbowl sponsors and suggested writing to let them know how we feel.
