Conflicting messages from MTV
Drudge

Posted on 02/01/2004 9:19:26 PM PST by Hildy

First I read this on Drudge:

MTV Statement on Super Bowl XXXVIII Halftime Incident Sunday February 1, 11:03 pm ET

HOUSTON, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The tearing of Janet Jackson's costume was unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance. MTV regrets this incident occurred and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it.

Then I went on MTV's website and I found this: Who's Kidding whom here?

Janet Jackson Got Nasty at the MTV-Produced Super Bowl Halftime Show Jaws across the country hit the carpet at exactly the same time. You know what we're talking about...Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and a kinky finale that rocked the Super Bowl to its core. P. Diddy, Kid Rock, & Nelly rounded out the halftime show in the midst of the greatest game on earth. MTV was Super Bowl central, so armchair quarterbacks, fair weather fanatics and fans of Janet Jackson and her pasties were definitely in the right place. So strap on those pads, keep your head down and get the full recap of The AOL Super Bowl XXXVIII Halftime Show produced by MTV.

YEP! No shame! I feel for America! No wonder we have become the great satan in the eyes of other nations.

Anybody who watches MTV already has a brain full of mush. No damage done here.

Have you been to Europe?

We don't hold a candle to them on this front.

It is such a shame. Instead of talking about the great football game, the media will be talking about this disgusting display of scumbags for days to come.

I also noticed that our local Houston anchors are not very happy about it either.

And don't forget Justin Timberlake claiming that it was a "wardrobe malfunction"! Geez, can't these folks even stick to one story?

Just knowing she was on we all went to the kitchen and cooked burgers and ate. What happened with Janet Jackson?

The PR department at MTV must be having a great time. Seriously. Think of all the press MTV is having over this. All over the world. It's a friggin PR bonanza.

They managed to piss off all of us decent people, and at the same time, they are luring in more depravocrats, which is their target audience.

My only concern is that Roger Ailes of Fox News Network loves to watch MTV, mainly to see how they retain and hook their viewers. I hope he doesn't think a stunt along these lines is worthy of the venerable Fox News Network.

Ugh.. Is Juan Williams going to rip open Mara Liason's blouse one night during the panel segment on Special Report?

The photo of a bare breasted Janet is now one of 12 stills from the Super Bowl show, featured on the MTV.com website. If it were an accident, would that photo be there? Heck no! All staged, all planned, and despite the fines and sanctions and hate email, MTV & Janet Jackson will get exactly what they want -- a ton of press and publicity.

Remember, there's no such thing as bad press.

I think this would further aggravate that already aggravating cough of hers.

Sure it will....just wait. Charges will disappear, or he'll find some way to make it to a non-extradition country, lay low for a few years, and come out with a pay-per-view.

And they'll be some idiots who will plunk down their money to see it.

There are no conflicting messages on MTV. Anything on that channel in garbage and any parent who lets their kids watch it is asking for troubled kids.
