Teresa, a one-time U.N. linguist

In one ear and uh ... out the other ...

I honestly don't believe I've ever met anyone who has worked at the UN, have you?

I just wondered if only true believers go to work there? To me, that would be a warning bell regarding her "influence" on her husband.

"She has a natural class about her," he said. "She speaks well, and she's a beautiful woman. I'll tell you one thing: If Kerry gets the nomination, I think Hillary should feel very threatened by her."

-more like theresa should stay outta planes and away from the hildebeast, wouldn't be wise to criticize hillary...

GOOD question - and this wasn't just a 'position in the cafeteria' making change either ...

Born in Mozambique, fluent in five languages, she has combined compassion and common sense to become a force for innovation and social progress as leader of one of the nation's largest private foundations. After studying in South Africa and Switzerland, she moved to the United States to work for the United Nations. In 1966, she married Senator John Heinz, with whom she had three sons. Shortly after celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in 1991, she lost her husband in a plane crash.

Not an America national, educated in the racist south Africa (where white and black rasism is rampant), came to America to work for U.N. during the Vietnam War, married into money and never had a meaningful job. And they consider this a great first lady?

Well you nailed it!

This is part of the all-important 'press build-up' - the candidate can't be seen ahh ... being 'hitched' to some 'commoner'(like I'm royalty or something!)!

Read this post about Kerry's first cousin in France. Kerry is first cousin to former French Environment Minister Brice LaLonde

What a puff piece--and from the NY Post of all places.

One of the many things they have left out--even misrepresented--is the fact that Teresa was given a "handler' last September. He is Chris Black, a former CNN and Boston Globe reporter.

They hope he will keep her from making remarks like this:

"They don't even speak French!" -- Teresa Heinz, on the Bush administration.

This whole article is such obvious spin. Jackie O? Hillary? I don't think so. From what little I've seen she's appeared plain weird and not too good a communicator.

BTW, Teresa pretends to be a world-class enviromentalist.

Never mind that she drives a SUV (as does hubby), but her personal "trademark" is her pashmina scarf.

Not only is she a fashion victim, she is a hypocrite.

Teresa, a one-time U.N. linguist, has spoken the language since childhood - her father was a Portuguese doctor who lived in Mozambique - and she suspected the interpreter was purposely misinterpreting.

Her mother was what? Teresa was what? Mozambiquian? colonial Portuguese? tribal African?

What a half story!

Well, you know, that tough New York Press that was going to give Hillary a 'going-over' just keeps on being true to its nature ...

From what little I've seen she's appeared plain weird and not too good a communicator.

I happened to catch her in CSPAN over Christmas as she was addressing a small, intimate group. She had a sweater on, over her shoulders - preppy (?) style.

I didn't think much of what she had to say - and I'm surprised now to find out she's 65!

"she needs some meds"

My impression is that she's higher than a kite on meds .. and that's why she's totally out of control.

"They won't even commit to ensuring that the 'death tax' won't go back into effect, YET the Kennedys et al *enjoy* protection from this via trusts set up to 'guard' their money from being confiscated to the tune of 1/2 it's value!"

please explain how this works to those of us who don't have these challenges.

I have two staunchly liberal friends. One dabbles in venture capital and real estate, and has her whole life configured so she doesn't spend a cent in income taxes. The other -- a big Kerry fan -- lives in his mother's house and waits till she dies, when he gets the trust fund that his father set up before he died to keep all his money from going to creditors.

Naturally, both believe that the Bush tax cuts should be rescinded, because after all the "rich" -- but not they -- should pay more taxes.
