Look, honey, I was typing it in a hurry. I know enough about ATkins and I feel if people want to use it, fine. Just remember that there could be consequences down the line. I'm not dismissing it as something that works for some people. I think different things work for different bodies, but I still believe all things in moderation. I've been on trillions of diets over the years and found that eating less and exercising more is what works best for me and probably for most others.

The "Adkins" (as you and others who have never thoroughly researched the diet call it) diet is understood by more people who have no understanding of it than any other diet. Katie Couric has told them all they need to know and further investigation is unnecessary. It is "general knowledge" that this diet is "extreme" and going to kill you. Never mind that Dr. "Adkins", who had been on this diet for decades, died while walking to work at 72 years old.

You are correct. Eat less exercise more. Avoid the refined sugar, rice, and flour. The problem with our culture is simply we spend too much time watching TV, and the TV is bombarding us with pretty pictures of appetizing bad food. I guess the GOVERNMENT should make it easier for the market place to market healthier products. Say add sin tax to chocolate, refined sugar, ice cream, refined rice, white bread,.....and subsidize green leafy vegetables, meat, whole wheat flour, fruits,.....Tax the heck out of the TV commercials for "bad" food, impose varieties on fast food restaurants......

Well, well, I know that the free people will hate what I just said. And, I am for freedom of choice too, however, it is difficult for children, and grown ups to fight the temptations of the TV commercials. It was difficult to find a good nutritional meal at a fast food restaurant until recently. I exercise daily, and watch little TV. My body fat is 9%. Hence, I do not need the freedom bunch to tell me that I should control my impulses. The thing is all these children, and adults who spend 4 to 10 hours a day in front of the TV, and their pantry is full of potato chips, and other unhealthy junk food are at the mercy of the organized food corporations, which spend millions on making their poisonous products appealing to the pallets/brain.

Since the public does not have the time to shop around for a healthier food, and since it is bombarded with commercials for doughnuts, pizza, ice cream, chocolate,......therefore, people like the surgeon general, who are being paid to think about our health should take some initiatives.
