There is enough material in these memos for MONTHS of op-eds and talk radio chatter.
Not to mention an Ethics Committee investigation in the Senate on INFLUENCE PEDDLING, among other ethical violations.

Rush just finished commenting upon the Repubs' rolling over on these memos. If he is correct, WHY are the Repubs making nice-nice and agreeing not to make an issue of the Dems' outrageous interfering with the judicial nomination process??

Boy oh boy ... those things are amazing.
As for why the GOP is rolling over, it's obvious. No doubt they've had their own little war room sessions over the years with our own special interest groups.

WHY are the Repubs making nice-nice and agreeing not to make an issue of the Dems' outrageous interfering with the judicial nomination process?? Maybe because they were committing a felony by accessing them without authorization. I predicted the good ol' boys club would put party aside and come together in self defense.

Maybe because they know one of their staffers broke the law to get the info? If so, they have less leverage. At least that would explain it.

Good question. With all the furor I assumed it was against the law for staffers to hack into computers (assuming they did). Maybe it's just an ethical violation if it happened. It must be awfully serious the way these dems are treating it! :-)
To: plain talk
No law was broken.
No ethics rule was violated.
They were on an open server.
And p.s., the Dems could read the Reps emails and memos too. The difference? The Reps weren't committing ethical violations and documenting them in memos.
To: plain talk
There wasn't any hacking. Hacking implies breaking down firewalls and busting through passwords. This was a shared server, open for anyone on the committee to see.
To: backhoe
Yes, backhoe. Been mighty convenient for the Dems to avoid the subject of the content of the judiciary memos AS WELL AS the intelligence memos, eh?
And the Reps have swallowed the bait hook, line and sinker.

You've piqued my curiosity and admit to not being up-to-speed on this. Are you saying these idiots have folders on shared servers that are not password-protected and everyone can read everyone's memo's and documents? I find that hard to swallow.
To: plain talk
Yes. That is exactly what I am saying.
There is one server in the Senate Judiciary Committee. When Leahy took over after Jeffords jumped ship, he fired the old IT guys and brought in his own. Who stupidly configured the server so that the folders on the server could be opened by anyone.
When the problem was discovered, the Republicans told the IT guy the problem and he chose to do nothing about it.
So yes. It was an open server.
There was no hacking. There was no stealing. It was just there.
And so cleverly, the Dems started screeching about how the memos were leaked to avoid the subject of what was in the memos. And Hatch pulled the trigger when confronted by the hysterical Dems and referred the matter to the Sergeant at Arms, who is, by the way, a Gore contributor.
Starting to get the picture?
