They didn't have a map there.

She was like "Come on, New Mexico is a state? You mean it's a territory like Guam. You still need a customs form."

I said "No, it's a state, like New York and New Jersey, and I know darned good and well that if I fill out this unnecessary customs form, you will send my parents' Christmas presents to Old Mexico."

I told her to type the zip code into the machine thingy and see what happened. Came up the same rate as for New Jersey, so she had to accept it.

I never write "New Mexico" on the label anymore. Saves me aggravation to just use "NM".
