So where is Mr.Keyes or someone like him during this primary? IMHO scared to run against an entrenched incumbent. Rangle too many feathers and there will be no invites to CPAC or other paying events except for the fringe chicken and pea circuit.

...so where is Mr.Keyes or someone like him during this primary?...That's the sixty-four dollar question, Joe. If grassroots discontent won't prompt a rethink by this President, our best hope is some conservative with cred becoming a thorn in his side in the runup to November. I note that Tancredo won't be silenced. Who else? We need a Buchanan/Keyes/McClintock type to surface, and get GWB back on the rails. Otherwise, any commitment he makes during the campaign will be have a 'no new taxes'-type credibility gap.

Why should anyone run against an incumbent Republican, and end up a pariah like Buchanan? Not only was Pat ridiculed, he was labeled a racist, a Jew hater and unbalanced mentally. Before he had the gall to run against Bush I, he was a respected conservative voice. He supported the party, he was not only OK, he was a favorite at the convention, he ran against the chosen one he is now the most dangerous man in American politics.

If you'll remember, only four years ago he DID give it his all in the primaries and his own blamed party didn't support him. He was, at best, ignored. I'm ashamed to say that I gave to that too. I tried to support him at first, but under pressure from others I went for the lesser of two evils rather than voting my principles.
I wish I HAD somebody like Alan to vote for this year. Unfortunately, I don't yet.
