Kennedy didn't look too pleased with Kay's comment. :-)

Ditto that Carolinamom.
I absolutely cannot believe they weren't there. Too much intelligence they were there. They can't ALL be wrong.
If Saddam didn't have any, he sure miscalculated letting the UN back in to prove he didn't have them.

"the limited data we had led one to conclude this..."
There was no "inappropriate command influence."
Now we can sit back and watch as they try to blame ONLY Bush.

We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a
tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region.
He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building
weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."

I like Kay. He isn't cowed by Kennedy at all. Kennedy like to play god of the Senate and the other Senators all bow down to him.

"Turns out we were all wrong....probably, in my judgement."And we are to take his judgement over all the others who think our judgement was right.

Limited information we had led to the conclusions we had and those conclusions were understandable.
He is not being political or on a witch hunt.
Analysts not biased or under undue influence. He almost wishes it were since that would mean simply finding out those who behaved dishonestly to move an agenda and they could be fired. It is an intelligence gathering problem.
Now facing in Iraq: He regrets to say at the end there will be ambiguity to what happened. Unparalleled looting and destruction...Most designed to cover up and hide programs. We're not going to prove negatives or positives...always will be unresolved ambiguities.

My respect for Mr. Kay just went up a notch.
He wants to tell the truth. What a concept!

Ends with tribute to the president and George Tenet for "choosing us". Kay says he and his successor are both known independents with no preconceived--or biased to the administration's pov--and they wanted facts..not a preconceived conclusion.

Bill Clinton: December 16, 1998.
Good evening. Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces
to strike military and security targets in Iraq.
They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.
Good find.
Gee, can someone refresh my memory.....what was going on in December of 1998. /sarcasm

I'd like to know what John's positions are. He so rarely deviates from the name calling or nebulous, codified statements...
