...and a big white boy umgowa on "The Perils of Tribalism"...19th century notions like "white man's burden" and "the noble savage" are held dear and even nurtured by contemporary leftists. Why else would they so condescendingly entone props like "affirmative action", "multiculturalism", and "diversity". There seems to be some myth that holds down-and-out third world paupers embody all that is "good" in humanity. If one's ethno-cultural boat floats on ignorance and poverty, it's downright zenophobic to offer negative commentary, particularly if that commentary originates in the Western tradition. Thus, Epicurean rationale is equivalent to cannibalism; Socratic dialectic to the hollering of sweaty-faced wrestlers; a clipper ship to a hollowed log; Hamlet is replaced by scrapings on a stone. Yet, despite their zeal for a great egalitarian leveling of all still standing, these elites retain their haughty, guilt ridden, superiority. That's the dirty secret behind the feigned "concern" for the natives. "Poor thing, I know you can understand this if you'll just let me show you how."
