Unlikely Leader (Dean Meet-Up Infiltrated)
The Washington Times - Inside the Beltway ^ | 1/26/04

Last month, a Republican lawyer in Mississippi who previously lived here in Washington, infiltrated a Howard Dean for President "meet-up" in Jackson. He took charge of more than the meeting.

"I'm basically now head of Central Mississippians for Dean," J. Kevin Broughton tells Inside the Beltway. The handful of Dean supporters on hand included a political consultant who was state chairman of Al Gore's 1988 presidential campaign, a retired Army colonel, a local broadcaster and a pair of middle-aged women. Honest lawyer he is, and feeling a bit guilty, Mr. Broughton decided to come clean.

He shouldn't be guilty for using the opposing party's system to acheive his own ends --- that's politics.

The local newsrag is unabashedly, even militantly conservative when it comes to endorsing pub candidates in the primaries --- they want as unelectable a right-wing wacko as they can find to lose to their liberal candidate in the general elections.

So work with the 'rats and have no shame, for now.

I would suggest you shower more often, though...

Somewhat similar in nature to Gray Davis paying millions for ads to beat the holy hell out of Richard Riordan for months leading up to the Republican nomination, so he could go up against a weaker Republican nominee - Bill Simon.

The Pied Piper of Mississippi, leading the rats out of town. Cover your kids' ears, lest he persuade them to follow.

I would just like to point out to the Democrats who are reading this that this is clearly a ruse. What the man really wants to do is sabotage Dean and help Bush's lapdog John Kerry. Don't listen to what the media says about him just vote for Dean. Several times if possible.

Uh, you have, in that we're on the same ping list.

This thing caught legs on Tuesday when the WSJ picked it up. I was on The Big Story with John Gibson yesterday afternoon. What a hoot.

:-)
