Wow, first sentence and they already worked in the word "amnesty" depiste everything the President actually said.

"If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck..."

No amount of spin is going to make Bush's stealth amnesty plan anything else. It allows those who come here illegally to stay here, and eventually become citizens without returning home and waiting in line. It abandons all pretense of ever deporting illegal aliens. And of course those guest workers will be having babies who will be US citizens, and who will want to break up families to send the parents back? Bush is simply abandoning his oath to see that the laws are faithfully executed, at least as far as immigration goes. People in other countries, especially Mexico understand that and have more incentive to come here than ever.

This plan is a de facto amnesty program, of course they will not say this. The border is now officially not in play, and the people that want it closed are the insane. Anyone defending it as a good plan, and spouting the official line of "not an amnesty" are not being truthful. These people will never be forced to leave, nor even asked to. When the three years are up, the cry will be "they followed the rules, and are productive taxpayers, why should they force their chillrun to uproot lives, why should employers be forced to replace these dynamic(and cheap) workers with caucasians that can't even find their buttocks with both hands?

I don't see Bush as a traitor to the cause like others though, because he never promised to be a conservative. He is exactly as advertised, a tough on defense, tax-cutting Democrat, in Republican clothing.

Its an amnesty and the only reason the President had to say otherwise last night was he would be run off the rails from out of D.C if he openly endorsed amnesty. Same for the rest of the out of touch political class there. This isn't a partisan issue; 83% of us oppose illegal immigration and we're getting frustrated no cares or appears to be listening to what we, the American people, think on the subject.
