hi i have been to mecca many times and there are many christian churches around the area, mostly catholic
All the folks with the last name Davies that I know are Jewish.
I don't know if Rhys-Davies is Jewish, but "Davies" is just an alternate spelling of the very Welsh name (as common as "Smith" is in America) "Davis."
They are actually both pronounced (by the Welsh) the same way (kind of a "Davizz" pronounciation). I know a Welshman named Davies who is amused at how Americans make a point of calling him DayVEEs when just a plain pronounciation of Davis would suffice.
The Welsh never took occupational names (like Smith or Wright) like the English...and Davies and Davis are merely possessive forms of "Dave's" when the English (about 350 years ago or so) forced the Welsh to take one surname. So back there somewhere was an ancester by the name of Dave.....
St. David was the man who brought Christianity to Wales (about the same time a Welsh identity was formed too), hence David or Davey or Dave was (and is) a favorite Welsh name.
Viva Cymru!
Hi Sandra1971,
Any churches say 2 or 3 miles from the grand mosque?
What is up with this sign?
A worthwhile bump to a topic from 1/19/2004. Found it while looking for Homo Floriensis topics. :') Lucky you.
Plaid Cymru translates as "Welsh Party" for you non-Welsh speakers. It is a party steeped in socialism born of the union movements.
Rhys-Davies speaks the truth. Muslims hate hearing the truth spoken about them. Muslims prefer a phoney, sugar coated view of their behavior that permits them to conduct their heinous acts with impunity. The horror of Islam is in the history books if anyone dares to read it.
The jihadists have invaded the Western world in the millions, not invading crusading hordes on horseback, but this time they strolled through immigration, set up their jihad recruitment centers (mosques) and do it all tax free!
