Schumer joined Queens DA Richard Brown in an appeal for new legislation that would make auto insurance fraud a federal crime, punishable by a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and more than $100,000 in fines.

What, exactly, is the rationale for making it a federal crime? Isn't New York State capable of handling law enforcement without bringing the Feds into it?

RICO statutes are used primarily as threats to encourage "cooperation".

Handing over more power to the Feds, at the expense of state sovereignty, is the primary goal.

Reelection is the secondary goal.

That's the point...... Schumer has no plans to protect the interests of law-abiding Americans. His move looks mighty like a coverup for the crooks and thieves who are his political base.
