The group did, for awhile there was only one breeder that sold to pet stores, now, I believe there are three in the nation. They reasoned it as helping get a puppymill dogs genetics out of the breeding line, and then they would find a home for the dog via their rescue group. I have seen two puppies at stores in the last 3 years and they were not good representatives of the breed. What's more, they were charging an outrageous price $1600 or so, and this they said proved that the dog was quality!
