McNabb also got voted into the Pro Bowl because of the Rush controversy. 16 TD passes - 11 Int - 79.6 ratings is incredibly average.

Yeah but that includes the first 3 games when his ankle and thumb were still giving him problems and he looked horrible

Check out his rating for the last 14 games and I am willing to bet it is much higher

Rush lead on his show today with the Mcnabb controversy.

Did he say anything about the Fox skit on him?

I think McNabb has much more of a "quarterback mindset" than Cunningham ever did.

Randall was flaky but Reid is a hell of a lot better coach than Ryan when it comes to bringing quarterbacks along

In addition Cunningham NEVER had a decent running game to complement his QB play while he was with the Eagles. He was their ONLY runner

Forget about the rating. 16 TD passes for an entire season may very well be the worst total ever for a "Pro Bowl" quarterback.

If your team goes 12 and 2 after the first two games you don't need any more TD passes

Part of the reason is Reid is a very conservative coach when he gets a lead

At this point the Eagles REALLY miss Westbrook . If he was there they would have taken the PACK by at least a TD

Of course, all this assumes that Rush was actually criticizing Donovan, which he wasn't. He was criticizing the liberal media for lauding black quarterbacks perhaps undeservedly in some cases. Strangely enough, I've seen a lot less of that this year among many broadcasters...

As an Eagles fan who witnessed the media frenzy over both Randall Cunningham and Donovan McNabb, I truly believe that the "novelty" of having a black quarterback drove the enormously race-conscious media to over-hype them. Randall Cunningham, though a good QB, was never worthy of the accolades and promotional money he got, in my opinion.

However, given McNabb's gutsy performance earlier this year and his sheer magnificence last week, it's becoming clear that he probably is a future resident of Canton, OH.

In addition I might add the EAGLES have NO receivers going to the Pro Bowl

Give McNabb a Harrison--Owens--Moss --Smith --Holt etc etc instead of the NO Names he has and see what happens

He did yesterday when a mad caller was disgusted with it. Rush thought it was a funny skit, and took it in stride and told the caller it's what happens in the big leagues.

Ironically, McNabb's style of play is very similar to that of a former Philadelphia quarterback named Randall Cunningham -- who also never won a championship ring, either.

Randall never even won a playoff game, I don't think.

That pass was mostly a great catch.

I very much agree with that.  Mitchell found the one spot where he could catch the ball uncontested, stopped, leapt, and then showed enough quickness and burst to get beyond the chains and hold on to the ball.
For the first two years Freddie Mitchell was here, he was a disappointment and I couldn't see what made him a first round pick (I was a Reggie Wayne guy, myself).  He never had great size, speed, etc, however, this year, he's really shown some athleticism.  I could almost see him turning into a Hines Ward type of WR (although Ward puts up All Pro numbers, Mitchell is extremely athletic like Ward).

That was an all-world catch. Mitchell saved McNabb and saved the team.

The catch "4th and 26" is already being called one of the 5 All Time Philadelphia Sports Plays in what is an extremely jaded city.  That really speaks to what an amazing catch that was.

Jeff Garcia. Same Type of Player, Better QB.

[Cunningham] had marvelous physical skills, but always looked terribly uncomfortable as a pocket passer. I seem to remember reading a great article about him back in the prime of his career.

He also telegraphed his throws and had one of the slowest deliveries I've ever seen. He was not a "touch" passer. Everything was a 90 mph fastball.

I'll agree with Favre & Manning. Pennington is obviously good but hasn't played enough & hasn't accomplished anything. Same with Vick.

I've never liked Garcia for some reason. I don't think he would do better than McNabb if he played for Philly. I would also add McNair.

Not that your point isn't correct, but let's not forget one of my favorites, Herschel Walker, who was around for a few years.

You can't argue with Philly/McNabb bashers. They are always right and know everything.

Like this comment from rintense,
Nevermind other great QBs like Manning and McNair.

McNair is a fine QB. Manning, please refresh my memory on the number of Super Bowls he has won. Until this year, I believe he has won NO playoff games. Correct? As in Zero, Zilch, Nada, Goosegg. Let's see how the gifted Peyton does with Bellichick's defense breathing down his neck every snap. As for the Chiefs in the playoff's, they couldn't even stop a pee-wee team, so spare me the Manning worship.

Or how bout this gem from Mr Mojo
Why is McNabb's career "amazing"? Let's see him lead his overrated peace-of-sh/t-of-a-team to a victory in the Big Dance first. ....

I believe Mr Mojo is from Washington State. Mr Mojo, can you tell me how many Super Bowls and playoff games the Seahacks have won? Please tell me because NFL.COM doesn't have them listed as a winner of the Lombardi trophy and I'd hate to have to tell Paul Tagliabue that the NFL made a mistake. So STHU.

And again from rintense about Mike Vick. When Vick wins something, please get back to me. Last year the mighty Vick and the Falcons were made to look like a high school team by the overrated McNabb and the lousy Eagles, or did you forget that?

Brett Favre is a great QB, but he makes dumb decisions and bad throws all the time. Hit him 4 or 5 times and sack him twice and he throws up balloons all the time. It's what he did on Sunday and Jimmy Johnson knew it. So did Brian Dawkins

4th and 26. How bout this. Green Bay defense bit on a look left. McNabb threw the ball the only place Mitchell had a chance to catch it and get the first down. And that's just what happened. How about a perfectly executed play by the Eagles offense, instead of making excuses for the vaunted and Destined Green Bay Packers. They got the pants fooled right off them.

Uncbob, you are absolutely correct about Randall. Had Doug Scovill, the Eagles QB coach not died during the season, (88 or 89) Randall's career and the Eagles Super Bowl quests may have had a far different outcome. Buddy Ryan was a jackass. Great defensive co-ordinator, great motivator and a player's coach. But a cluess jackass nonetheless.

If the Eagles win or loose the Super Bowl or even get there does not affect me either way. But let's be real here, some of you guys are just bashing Philly and McNabb because it's stylish.

And one last thing you bashers like to bring up. Throwing snow balls at Santa Claus. Happened at Franklin Field in 67 or 68. The guy was a skinny nitwit, making a bigger ass out of himself than he already was. He deserved it. And until all you bashers let us know your "wisdom" and what's going on with the Philly fans, I suggest you make your comments from actual experience, rather than what ESPN says or what your second cousin twice removed who was in Philly once said.

Flame away.

No argument there. But that has nothing to do with whether or not McNabb belongs in the Pro Bowl. If I'm a running back and I finish the season with 700 yards rushing and 6 TDs, I'm not going to the Pro Bowl under any circumstances -- even if my team goes 14-2 and "didn't need" any more rushing yards or touchdowns than I gave them.

I disagree with Limbaugh. His original assertion was that McNabb was overrated by the press because he was black. I could be wrong, but I took this to mean that the press over-hypes black QBs.

There are black QBs who fly along under the radar, doing good and sometimes great jobs, but who rarely get a mention. McNair, Aaron Brooks. Culpepper, maybe.

There are also white QBs who are or were over-hyped. Rich Gannon, Drew Bledsoe, Doug Flutie.

So yes, Rush, McNabb is probably over-rated. But I doubt that race is the primary reason.

Pennington is obviously good but hasn't played enough & hasn't accomplished anything. Same with Vick.

Last season Pennington Demolished Green Bay in a game important to GB and Won a Division, and then Dismantled the Colts in the playoffs last season....

Vick also went on the Road and took GB down In GB In the playoffs...

None, Just lIke D.McDrabb...Both Manning, and McDrabb are going home after Sunday, so that point is kind of moot....
