His article, of course, was against the war in Iraq and was anti-American. I just shuddered because I know 90% of the people in our town disagree with everything he said and everything he stands for but few will say anything because of political correctness. Also, his status as a professor protects him. Homeland security had better be monitoring EVERY mideast "professional" who has come to this country over the past 30 years. This is war and it is here.

 Keith Windschuttle: Howard, cultural warrior

February 21, 2006

YESTERDAY two political leaders responded to the big issue of our time. In Australia, Prime Minister John Howard observed that radical Islam is "utterly antagonistic to our kind of society".

In India, the Minister of Minority Welfare of Uttar Pradesh, Yaqoob Qureshi, offered a $14 million reward to anyone who beheaded one of the Danish cartoonists who drew images of Mohammed.

In their own distinct ways, both may contribute to Western countries recognising how serious, and how long-standing, is the challenge of radical Islam to the core of their culture.

THE PORT DEAL - THIS COULD BE BUSH'S FIRST VETO? HE'S JOKING, RIGHT? (Boortz on Poortz)--Though far too many people don't realize it, the Western world now finds itself smack in the middle of World War IV, the war against Islamic terrorism. Mosque Attack Pushes Iraq Toward Civil War

http://fallbackbelmont.blogspot.com/

Storm clouds over Baghdad

Iraq the Model adds this eyewitness account of the hornet's nest stirred up by the Shi'ite mosque explosion. His bullet points are reproduced verbatim below.

  • President Talabani promises to make rebuilding the shrine his personal responsibility and to donate the required money from his own.
  • Head of the Sunni endowment sheikh Ahmed al-Samarra'I announces that he will allocate 2 billion dinars (~1.4 million $) for the rebuilding of the shrine from the treasury of the Sunni endowment.
  • Huge demonstrations in many of Iraq's provinces including Samarra and Mosul where thousands of people condemned the attack.
  • The top 4 Shia Ayatollahs hold a meeting at Sistani's home to discuss the situation.
  • The Association of Muslim scholars and the Islamic Party condemn the "criminal act".
  • Retaliatory attacks on reportedly 29 Sunni mosques and the Accord Front warns from the consequences of such violent reactions.
  • Jafari in a press conference calls for national unity and the leaders of the UIA hold a meeting. A press release is expected to come soon.
  • The Iraqi TV opened the phone lines to receive the reactions of the audience to the attack and hosts Sunni clerics and politicians in an attempt to relieve the tension.
  • Baghdad is in undeclared emergency situation, shops closed and streets nearly empty.
  • Tight security around the shrine of Abu Haneefa in Aazamiya district of Baghdad, this is considered the top shrine/mosque for Sunni Muslims in Iraq.
  • Masked gunmen attack Shia protestors in at least one neighborhood in western Baghdad and armed clashes in Ghazaliya and Hay al-A'amil.
  • People exchange phones calls with their relatives and friends to check on them and discourage them from leaving their homes.

Bill Roggio's appreciation of who the perps are is given below:

Twelfth Imam's Longterm Bolthole Bombed

One of the mosques attacked today in Iraq is not just any shrine, it’s the hiding place of the so-called “twelfth imam” who will return at the end of days to restore the world to a perfect Islamic society before Yawm al-Qiyamah—the day of resurrection: Al-Askariya shrine: ‘Not just a major cathedral’.

The cult of islam can scream about cartoons, but they care not about anyone else  I'm a nominal Christian at best but I'm willing to stand up and say "Look, I don't respect Islam because it's bullshit".They have no respect for any holy place, of any true religion..how many Synagogues, how many Churches have they destroyed? What respect did they have when they blew up the incredible Buddhas of Gandhara in Afghanistan?

Ominious new about events in Iraq as reported by the Times of London: Here's something that sounds particularly worrisome, from a different article in the Times of London: Many of the incidents related by the Times of London stories are mirrored in Healing Iraq's post of February 22nd. As everyone may already know, I too have been hit by Turkish hackers (possibly the same ones). Michelle M and I (and one of the Archive mirror hosters) have been communicating about it. The surface of society may appear calm, but underneath it all a vicious international cyber-war going on. Will this cyber-war turn into a physical war between Islam and the West?
