After reading your tag line I decided we had to be related. My family was chased out of Georgia 150 years ago, but blood runs deep and you definitely are describing my family. Especially me.

Greetings, Canteeners, Troops,
and All the Ships at Sea!Sarge is back on watch at this hour, and he's watching, all right! That aircraft with the mysterious passenger is headed right for the Bluegrass - Cincinatti Airport is on the Kentucky side of the Ohio; they'll come to us, first.Meanwhile, the Home Detachment is readying itself for another siege. F-I-L is going under the laser tomorrow at dawn, to get a new pacemaker and defibrulator installed. Missus and The Boy will be staying with him for a few nights. That means: SARGE GETS THE HOUSE TO HIMSELF!!!
Baby Sabella is doing better. The tapeworms are gone without a trace, but her kitty bronchitis is still a raging sneeze.
So here's Sarge, BDU's on, and about to leave, and he picks up Sabella, who turns out is a shoulder-cat, and the following dialogue begins:
SARGE: "Hello, Sabella, how are you feeling, my littl -"
SABELLA: "ker-hah-SPEWWWW!!!"
SARGE: "D'OH!"
I love that kitten dearly, but a wet ear kind of "dampens" our relationship...
I'll be here the rest of watch tonight, and a little beyond. Glad to see everyone here!
SARGE

Hi NMGA! Well, I was going to go, but Squeezit GiggleLips wants to try to put her baby sis down for the nap and I figured why not let her try? We'll see how THAT works out. I spent about an hour with Fluffy GiggleLips, my 2nd frade son putting together an electromagnet circuit. I am NOT scientifically inclined I have decided. It worked ok to start, but with each progressive step it got weaker. Hubby has a job to do when he gets home! LOL!!

Thanks, Star and everyone else. My parents have been a wonderful example to me over the years.
First, there was my mom, who taught me the meaning of CLASS and DIGNITY, as well as about the responsibility to one's extended family.
Then, my dad taught me of hard work, strength, and sacrifice for a greater good, and about TOUGHNESS.
I watched them both, after mom had her stroke ten years ago. She was left a virtual quadriplegic, and everyone urged my dad to place her in a nursing home, but he wouldn't hear of it. For ten years, he took care of her almost single-handedly, cleaning, caring, and checking her. He learned to be an expert on diabetes and on blood sugar level control with insulin. He learned to care expertly for wounds and scratches, which can kill a severe diabetic.
Oh, did I mention that he only had an eigth-grade education?
When mom got ill for the last time, it broke his heart that he could no longer care for her alone. He felt that he was violating his vows to her somehow. The fact that it would have been impossible for a seventy-three year old man to care for a dialysis patient, with a heart condition and brittle diabetes, never entered his mind.
Everyone in their age group I've met all have known people in similar circumstances. ALL, without exception, placed their loved ones in nursing facilities after only a few months. Pop loved Mom enough to hold on for a decade, and he considered THAT not a sacrifice, but a gift.

That is too funny I have a solar powered panel kit that is staring me in the face, box unopened. I keep telling son #1 we can assemble it when Dad gets home.... tick tock , tick tock.
