So this is a program, or proposed program, to launch large airborne and airmobile units from seagoing platforms? Sounds pretty feasible, since the USMC has been doing it for years.

I don't think so.

Traditionally, the marines have landed ashore. Recently, during Afghanistan a MEU launched into the middle of Afghanistan. That was the first time (so the Marines claimed) they had ever gone so far inland.

We're talking fully self-sufficient field commands with major air-mobile assets going deep into hostile territory for maneuver.
