We were in Belle Glades once at a fast-food joint and we saw a dump truck bump a lowhanging power line and it was enough to tip it over. When they got the tow truck there, apparently, the driver, Bubba, decided to go ahead and dump the load. They hooked the chain to the bottom of the truck. From the top side. On the bottom part that was on the road. And got on the other side and started to pull. The truck lifted up and dumped about 1/2 of the load before they realized they were screwing up. So, the brain surgeon in the tower moved the truck to the other side and hooked it to the bottom side of the truck, from the side facing the sky. Pull. Skid... Hmmmm. So, they FINALLY braced the truck, pulled from the road side of the top of the truck on the correct side and lifted it up and back to being right. There was a skid mark about 30 feet where the dump truck had been dragged along the road and a huge pile of manure (the load the truck was carrying) at the start of the skid.
Bubba got it right finally.

"Belle Glade"
Back around 73' or so my school took us from Miami to Belle Glade to perform a play.
Aside from the school being surrounded by miles of black-soil farmland the most vivid memory I have of the trip is seeing more go-karts and mini-bikes parked at the bike racks than bicylces.

An earlier comment about the Almanac warning suggested that this warning was meant to be passed on only to airport security but that the news media got hold of it and publicized it. Now obviously they will probably hide or discard the almanacs.
Yes, it's possible that they were using if for code. Or it's possible that they are information freaks (as suggested when their computers were captured in Afghanistan), and that the warning went out because several suspicious characters happened to be arrested carrying almanacs for whatever reason.
