One reason why poor people are so overweight is that Dollar Store food is so full of calories. You ever eat Dollar Store food? One bite and you feel like you've gained a couple of pounds.

A couple cans of tuna costs a pantload less than a box of Twinkies, even at the Dollar Store. It's not that the food there is so void of nutritional value, it's that they choose the crappiest food available.

Wow, isn't it. I thought a number of them were outrageous, but that one was truly incredible.

The First Amendment (remember when that was thought to mean something?) made journalism and the rest of the entertainment media above accountability to the government. That is why Jefferson had to respond ("If I had to choose between government and no newspapers on the one hand, and newspapers and no government on the other, I should unhesitatingly prefer the latter") to the charge that the Constitution put the newspapers above the government.
There is therefore no reason to expect journalism to be responsible.
And it is not.
But is it really fair to speak of "journalism" as an entity? Isn't it a fragmented, competitive industry? Yes and no. It is certainly competitive--within limits. The limits of competition within journalism are what distinguish journalism from all other genres of publication. Journalists agree on who is not a journalist--and the only infallible criterion for being excluded from the informal guild of journalists is pointing out the fact that other journalists are anticonservative. Just as magicians agree not to reveal their tricks to the general public. Journalism is a field of ideological conformity behind a mutual-admiration-society veil of supposed "objectivity."
That is why talk radio is not considered to be journalism.

Laughed myself sick over this at breakfast. I am bookmarking this thread and clipping the Post article to use this material in a handout if there is another lefty lie-fest in front of Fox News.

Oh my goodness. There should be a warning, if you read all these in one viewing, your head is likely to explode. :-)
Agreed. Ugghhh... and I didn't feel so hot before reading it all.

Thanks for the ping! What a great thread and love the pictures you added of Dan Rather with Saddam -- they are perfect for this thread.
I love it when the leftist media tries to say there is no leftist bias.
MRC does a fantastic job in pointing out the bias in the media!

You would have been doubly impressed had you seen Dan Rather's own personal spin on these interviews.
Shortly after Saddan Hussein's capture, the History channel rebroadcast these interviews, albeit with an interesting twist. During the rebroadcast, they had Dan Rather himself commenting on the purpose of the various questions, explaining for the viewers the true but hidden reasoning behind the questions. Much was made of Hussein's offer and the POTUS refusal to engage in live televised debates. Nearly as much was made over Dan Rather's own personal courage in conducting the interviews; bravery personified entering into the mouth of the dragon, as it were . . .
A spin so pure and unfettered a toy top maker would blush . . .
