Flame me if you will, but IMHO, our leaders expect the eventual Jihadist to get thru, and do something truly horrific, in order to get the public behind a full scale war. You have to take into consideration the type of individuals we're talking about: those whose religion tell them that blowing up innocent infants and babies is perfectly okay as long as it promotes 'The Religion of Peace'. Know your enemy. This enemy is completely inhumane and must be repulsed as the wild and dangerous animal it truly is. It must be destroyed, as any sort of capitulation is taken as weakness to be exploited.

I believe the President knows what is going on also. But I also think he would never say so in public. He is not the Preacher of the Free World, he is the President, a political leader. But to say that he shouldn't mention it at all is ludicrous. Pat Robertson should stop and think that some statements are most likely made for the sake of our allies. Do American's ever think anymore?

You are one of the few who understand this on this forum. The president knows we are not ready to fight all Muslims at this point, which is why the ongoing conflict must be a fight against terrorists and not Islam, even if Islam is the source of the terrorists actions.
Pragmatism is not an abdication of principle; rather it is the ultimate use of our God-given wisdom. Thankfully our president understands this quite well.

I won't flame ya ... I think the DEMS WANT that to happen to "blame Bush" and get back the power. I don't believe Bush wants that and is doing his best to prevent it.
