Do you honestly think that jobs for surgeons, or other highly professional jobs, will be affected by this?

YES!!!
5 years ago white collar workers thought they were immune to free trade now their jobs are going to India and Cnina by the thousands every month. In many Hospitals xrays are being emailed to other countries to have their doctors examin them. It is cheaper, but you do not get to talk to that doctor, less care.

LA County, one county, had a $300M cost to pay for emergency care of illegal aliens. That's only one county, and emergency room care only. So, ante up or lose your hospital. You wouldn't want anyone to think you're a racist because you want immigration to be orderly and demand on social services manageable...

Nope. I forgot the sarcasm tag. Out sourcing is a serious problem, but this is something quite different. In the majority of economic sectors, you can't just find untrained "replacement" workers, import them, pay them peanuts and expect your business to do anything but go under. Pat is exaggerating the potential problem.
