Having read through this thread it seems like you all think the apocalypse is near. For the most part, I would not want any of you with me in a fox hole engaged in a dog fight. Having attained that notion, it seems that indeed the terrorist have won. I think you all need to take a deep breathe and be certain (and thankful) that our gov't is doing everything possible to defend and defeat terrorism. Those measures require hard times and diligance. We are not, and shall not, ever again take anything for granted. And that is exactly the kinds of measures we are seeing today.

I don't get that sense at all from reading the responses here. We are simply responding to the things we have been told by the President and Homeland security. Would you prefer we all bury our heads in the sand? Being vigilant is a good thing. I trust that our government is doing all they can, but some things just can't be prevented.

If this Administration was doing absolutely everything in its power to collect and identify deportable illegal aliens including sealing our Borders to the highest extent possible I would agree with you. But unfortunately we have a socialist plan that wants to expand and enhance un-documented illegal aliens that when you figure all the extraneous costs involved that have to be serviced by Tax Paying Citizens; we are being led down the path to Nationally Sanctioned Suicide. The serriousness of what we are being challenged with cannot be minimized. REDRESS& IMPEACH any member of Congress who votes for this Socialist Disaster.

If you remember Freerepublics anger and willingness to fight after 9-11, there was not much fear there.
I admit that my intrest is very high, and have a real wish to dig out more information than the government is willing to let us have (understand their reasoning), it does not mean that I have any fear.

"in a fox hole engaged in a dog fight." You've already lost the Battle of Metaphors.
