It is the unbelievers that need to waken. I think that is why prophesy is used as a tool of the church. If people don't believe that the world will end, they need to be cautioned.

That sounds kind of like scaring them into "belief".

But the humanistic approach rules out any sovereign grace.

I think prophesy can be added to the other tools that Christians can use. I also think it can be a powerful message that can catch people's attention. But the love and grace of the Lord should be stressed above any wrath of God. I think many people fear God, and never learn of His love.

If you are NOT scared into belief then I have to wonder about your salvation. One theif on the cross next to Christ was scared, one was not. Which one is with Christ in Paradise today?
