I guess Army Engineers can stabilize the clay before they remove the block. I hope so, or they will arrive in the U.S. with a lot of rubble in a shipping container.

I suppose this is the strangest war trophy of all time, a hole in the ground.

But, if they want it, they sure earned it.

"...if the 4th ID wants that hole as a souvenir, then
that's okay with just about everyone else in the country..."

So what did you do? Take a poll?
Oh, no, I forgot, that's right you're that arrogant guy
who presumes to speak for "about everone else".

I don't have to, since my eyes aren't colored by the lenses of ideology.

Waste of taxpayers money? Can't think of anything better to spend it on. "Bring it on."

Yes, my ideology says that digging up hundreds of tons of clay to ship
half-way round the world to put on display is bizzaro-world stuff.
I looked it up.
It's right there in chapter one of my copy of the bizzaro-world manifesto.
You really should read it, sometimes.

Saddam's hole on display for future generations to gawk at.

A delightful tribute to all those who opposed the US and UK's overthrow of the dictator.
This is pure genius.

I find it funny that they have to create a hole to move a hole. Just gives me a grin.

Thanks, I'll be sure to look for it in the comics section of the newspaper.

"...why dont they just recreate it?"

More people will pay to see the real deal.

The better solution would be to return Saddam to the hole, and seal it up for good.

"I suppose this is the strangest war trophy of all time..."

After the Iraqis execute him, I think it would be a nice gesture if they presented his head to our taxidermists so it could be added to the rat hole display at Ft. Hood.

"... to return Saddam to the hole, and seal it up for good."

Seems redundant. He's already lower than dirt.

The last few weeks and few days of a campaign are some of the most intense experiences a person can have short of being incarcerated in a prison camp someplace."

That's a different kind of hole, but I am sure that they smell the same.

Since the Republicans rule the Senate (well, at least the #'s say so!), they could authorize the new office for the Junior Senator from NY! LOL!

>>Seems like a waste of taxpayers money (like that ever mattered)<<

Not only would the excavation and transport cost a lot of tax dollars, but I'm sure they have given no thought to the disinfection process probably required by US Department of Agriculture rules for the importation of middle east soil into the U.S.
