Imagine what it would look like if Moseley-Brown wasn't in it. Sharpton might be at number two.

Getting Moseley-Braun into the race was an adept move on the part of the DNC. It is about the last smart thing they have done in this contest. It would have been really embarassing to have to be horse-racing between Howard Dean and Al Sharpton.
Now it looks like the more the Democrats try to block Howard Dean, the more legitimate his "insurgent" candidacy looks. This is similar to what the Democrats did back in 1976. Remember how they tried to sink Carter early on? But the fact that the party bosses were against Carter solidified his appeal with the voters.
Dean will ride a similar wave of voter resentment to the Democratic nomination.
