I can't understand why Bush doesn't want to anything about this problem. Maybe he thinks Mexicans are going to vote for him because he speaks Spanish. Maybe he's just distracted by the war. Or maybe the people who need illegal immigrant labor are that much of a political force. Something drastic is going to have to happen before they wake up.

Mexicans illegally crossing our border? What a strange notion.
To: Dan Evans
If this story is true, it will be a short time till a bunch of Mexican federalies are found dead on the wrong side of the river.
Gonna be some splainin to do then...

You're falling for the big lie.
This country doesn't need illegal aliens for anything but votes for RINOs and Democrats.
Illegal immigration has been such a boon to our economic growth over the last 20 years that we're $7 trillion dollars in debt on a federal level and $34 trillion dollars in debt on a national level.
Abortion as tragic as it is didn't kill Social Security.
Extending double the Social Security benefits that American citizens receive to elderly foreigners, that never worked a day in their lives in the USA, killed Social Security.
The retirement homes on the north side of Chicago are full of foreigners receiving $1,400 in Social Security each month, free rent and Medicaid.
Most are elderly Russian Jews. The same benefits are being extended to elderly immigrants from all over the world.
Illegal immigration and alot of legal immigration is siphoning more money out of Social Security and the rest of our economy than it's putting in.
Anyone that believes otherwise is a real sucker.

My point is, if illegal aliens go away, we will be able to cope.Of course. This is the most insulting part of the whole "we need illegals" argument. Look around...businesses that pay a bit over the minimum wage, have decent work conditions, and give their workers at least the opportunity to move up to more hours, increased salaries, and benefits have plenty of workers. They're students, parents who want part-time or seasonal work, and many who are over 50 and don't have pensions and savings to pay their bills. And you know what? These companies seem to be doing just fine.
Whenever possible, I avoid businesses that hire foreigners. Maybe we should all be doing that.
I'm really fed up with invader supporters claiming that US citizens can't do laundry, mow lawns, work on farms, or learn new technical skills. Besides not being true, it's destroying the fiber of this nation. And, what is it doing for other countries, having their hardest workers on one end of the spectrum and skilled, trained workers on the other have to leave for survival wages?
The far left has one point maybe we shouldn't ignore. The reason for the illegal flood is that the workers are exploited so badly in their homelands. Maybe all trade should be cut off with countries that don't assure a living wage and decent work conditions for workers. If these invaders could make a living at home, maybe they'd stay there.

Just an additional note.
Our own elderly American Citizens receive Medicare. They pay hundreds of dollars per year in deductibles, copays and prescription drugs.
Elderly foreigners receiving Medicaid pay NOTHING!!! Somehow our corrupt lawmakers have put them all on SSI (Social Security Disability). I haven't ever seen any of them that were truly physically disabled unless you consider being a shameless, Communist that believes they're entitled to U.S. Taxpayer's dollars a physical disability.
Their medical care is totally FREE!!! They pay for nothing, while there are elderly American citizens going without medicine and eating dog food.

"Abortion as tragic as it is didn't kill Social Security." Well, at least you acknowledge that TWENTY MILLION MURDERED AMERICANS taken out of our native work force has had at least some impact.

Awww... what's a little kidnapping by the Federales of U.S. citizens gonna hurt? - ping! I'm not sure it was citizens of the US that the Federales supposedly came over to arrest. The father apparently is a Mexican citizen ---- and if you knew the border area, you'd see that it's moved north considerably --- Mexicans pretty much ignore the previous border. Most likely the family is far from innocent ---- and very likely are Mexican citizens themselves up to no good.
President Fox has been very clear that his government will rule over the Mexicans in the USA --- an no one has dared stand up to him to tell him otherwise.

"Yes, a smaller percentage of Anabaptists are engaged in farming but not because they aren't farming any more."
I've read this about 20 times and I still can't figure out what you're trying to say in that sentence.
Several statistical points in response to the rest. Most Mennonites vote, the majority vote Republican. Birth rates are falling among the Amish and Mennonites. Most Mennonites go to college, in fact there are five Mennonite colleges in the US. Most Amish who work for others seem to like it and do well. Some Amish do move away to new settlements and buy cheap land, but most stay and have embraced a new way of life. Not because they're forced into it, but because they're making a ton of money and have an inexpensive lifestyle.
Amish retention rates have gone from 70% in the 1970's to close to 95% more recently. This shift is precisely because Amish are moving away from a focus on farming and offering more options to their young people.
