I think you are correct about him being term limited out

Doesn't matter, both Hatch and Specter are afraid of Ted Kennedy and Patrick Leaky.

His replacement? Pennsylvania's Arlen Specter I am having a hard time coming up with a reason to support GOP. No matter what happens, they just slit their own throats. This is really crazy.
To: ZGuy
The Repubs Contract With America put 6 year limits on committee chairs and ranking members.
If the rule is still in effect, is it possible his time is up ?

We'll just have to be concerned about Arlen's allegiance to Scottish law.
Hatch has his issues, but Arlen causes me concern.

Hatch has been mentioned previously as a "guaranteed" Supreme Court appointment, meaning that the Senate would have no problem confirming him. It may be the only way to break the stalemate.
To: deport
Those were House Rules initiated when the pubbies took over in '95. I don't believe the Senate enacted those rules.

Let's hope this was only a trial balloon that burst before this piece went to press.

This sounds like good news to me. Spector is forced to demonstrate loyalty before his 2004 election. If he fails the test, Bush is given the opportunity to support Toomey (which he won't do without being provoked). Great news.

probably the Recording Industry wants him to work full time for them. He's going to collaborate with Hetfield on the next album. ;-)
