I am not predicting Dean-Breaux. I just don't see why his choice of running mate has to please his base. The base will be suffering no lack of, uh, energization.

Dean doesn't have support from the calculating, compromising establishment. He's got support from the idealists. They won't allow him to abandon him that way. Besides, he thinks it's part of his sizzle. He wants a Southern version of himself-- Bob Graham. John Breaux isn't a Southern version of Dean-- by a long shot.
