Just WOW! Great pictures, great event, truly loving people, remarkable FReeper report (thanks FV!) and many, many thanks for a Birthday Party well done! Exceedingly well done!

Lady J-would you please post the return address of the solicitation letter you received from Suncoast Hospice? I have quite a letter to write to them.

Stutz-I agree 100% with your post! Mike Bell and Mary Labyak deserve special letters-aside from the one written in response to her solicitation letter.

Terri is in a death camp. NO DECENT MEDICAL ATTENTION is being administered...and much to their distress and anger, Terri is taking up space by her refusal to die of natural causes, forcing them to take the starvation, dehydration angle. They are MONSTERS.

Thanks-have copied it down and will send a snail mail. Hope many others do the same. Crucial that Labyak understand that WE KNOW what has gone on at the Woodside Hospice and are willing to send a note to her letting her experience our frustration and disbelief at what she has allowed to go on at Woodside in regards to Terri.

Think I will start my letter with:

WHY WERE THE BIRTHDAY CARDS REMOVED FROM TERRI's ROOM??? What could they POSSIBLY have INTERFERED WITH? Are they afraid that Terri might actually gleen some joy from them...from the color, the pictures, etc????

Oh yeah...I am FURIOUS about that....oh yeah...and I WANT AN ANSWER!

WHO ORDERED THE BIRTHDAY CARDS REMOVED FROM TERRI's ROOM and WHY??????????

"Crucial that Labyak understand that WE KNOW what has gone on at the Woodside Hospice and are willing to send a note to her letting her experience our frustration and disbelief at what she has allowed to go on at Woodside in regards to Terri."

Most important is that this Hospice should understand that their despicable petty acts have been unveiled for all the world to see.

It's fine that we chat among ourselves (preaching to the choir) - but letters will let them know that we are watching them - know how they operate...and that their treatment of a helpless human being is beyond decency from supposedly compassionate caregivers.

below is a link to an excerpt of what these people are [whom you're reacting to in this thread] and some suggestions as to how to deal with them

"Not everyone is going to agree on any single topic on every single thread - unlike Liberals, we are not all in lockstep. We call that "Freedom". So, here on FR, you ARE going to come across opinions you don't like. It's inevitable. So, with that in mind."

This is not about disagreement, it is about disruption. First off all, THIS THREAD IS ABOUT DESCRIBING A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND POSTING PICS FOR THOSE WHO WEREN'T THERE. It is not a discussion thread about the merits of keeping Terri alive or not. Those issues have been hashed out already to the Nth degree in earlier threads. There's nothing new to add in that regard. The troll can look at those rather than disrupt this thread, but then that would be un-troll like wouldn't it?

Not a troll, you say? OK let's review.

Out of nowhere:
#4
"I support Terri. I support her right to death with dignity. I support her right to die without undue interference from the church, state, courts or family members. Yes, I support Terri's right to go to a better place. Let her go."

Then I say:
#11
"...This news report [in another thread] is framing the issue as if the only ones who advocate for Terri Schiavo's life are doing so because of religious dogma. I count myself amongst those who are against abortion, euthanasia etc. because it is a human rights issue..."

Felos frames the issue as if interlopers are interfering with Terri Schiavo's privacy. In fact, we are fighting the idea that a Judge should have the power to decide if a human being is worthy of life based upon expense and convenience."

Then someone calls in the Moderator who says:

#13
"...just because someone has a different opinion, doesn't constitute abuse. I see no posting violations, and we are not babysitters for threads. If you all continue to ping us and hit abuse, on non-violations of the posting guidelines, we will have to pull start pulling these threads..."

I respond:
#19
"...The poster is making it necessary to once again go over facts and details that have already been explicated ad nauseum in earlier threads months ago. Such behavior not only contributes nothing to the general understanding of the issue, it is calculated to be deliberately disruptive.

If the poster is able to succeed in convincing a FR Moderator to pull a thread because he/she/it caused someone else to become so angry that they did something they shouldn’t – well, that would be a dream come true. As it is, the poster is probably rubbing its hand with glee at all the attention and disruption caused so far…"

Completely glossing over the troll's intent to disrupt and having threatened to pull the thread the Moderator responds:

#22
"...They will not cause us to pull a thread. If they are trolls, we will eventually know it. It's all the other instances of pinging mods to individual replies and the number of abuse reports we've received.

If you have a different opinion on any other topic, would you want us to pull your posts because you disagree?..."

Of course I never advocated pulling anyone's post. This is what I recommended in #19:

"..I don’t think that Admin Moderators should be called in to deal with such creatures, either, by the way. I have posted a link in [#14] to a bit of advice I found on the proper response to such posts..."

Then the troll returns:

#23
"...I, and the majority of conservatives, hold that the state, church and family members should not exercise undue control over end of life issues.

Let me put it another way. My life and my death belong to me. The state, courts and family members have limited interest in those rights. I don't yield my rights to others..."

You'll notice that the troll tried to continue its provocation by spewing the nonsense about how the courts should stay out of the issue, when in fact – as everyone including the troll knows -- THE HUBBY IS USING A JUDGE TO TRY TO KILL TERRI.

This is a classic troll tactic -- ignore the part of someone's argument that destroys their own, then continue babbling on, hoping to inflame an angry response...

The objective is to provoke anger and hijack the thread – it is not about disagreement. No one is advocating pulling the troll’s posts. There are other ways of dealing with trolls as is shown in the link placed in #11.

I appreciate the opportunity to examine the trolling issue. I hope that it wasn't too disruptive, but consider it important enough to present a little clinic on how disruptive trolling is, so that it can be nipped in the bud in the future.

I will say again: THIS THREAD IS ABOUT DESCRIBING A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND POSTING PICS FOR THOSE WHO WEREN'T THERE.

If you're writing a letter to the hospice, please just put a one cent stamp on it, so it'll be postage due.

Thanks for the eyewitness account and the pictures. I'm glad the parents know we're behind them 100%.

Well, you know, yelling is rude. Chill, k? No one appointed you or anyone else to be "Topic Police" on threads. I just don't see how anyone was "Off-topic", but maybe that's just me.

Anyway, I'm not going to argue about it. I said my piece. :0)

You had a cake, balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, and whatever else. Who paid for all of that? Is it coming out of a Free Republic fund?

If you need us to chip in, let us know!

Not to worry. I found an old ALBUM & COVER OF WHAM'S big album from the eighties, Terri's favorite, at a thrift store. I threw it on the gift table. Terri's family was thrilled to see it there.

Maybe they could frame it for Terri sometime and she'll get a thrill seeing George Michael and the other guy.

The sooner Terri's out of Hospice, the better. By the way, GAL Wolfson noted a "distinct presence" when he checked on Terri daily before he wrote his report. That's what is being under reported in the media. FV

There were lots of cakes and danishes, popcorn and beverages. There are Terri supporters in the local community who are sticking with the freepers or who have joined Free Republic themselves since we all bonded in the first weeks.

Anyone who would like to make a donation to help Terri should visit terrisfight.org and get instructions for sending a donation to the Foundation.

Helping Terri on a day to day basis to fight the ghoulish ones is an expensive proposition. I URGE EVERYONE WHO CAN TO MAKE A DONATION FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

Many return envelopes say that the post office will not deliver w/o sufficient postage. I'm not sure whether this is true or not.

How about Bob Graham's seat or some obscure election just to get her on the ballot? Terri's distinct presence makes her unduly qualified.

Having been a courier myself, if they get a large volume of mail the hospice probably has it picked up from the post office by a courier company [so they can get it first thing rather than wait].

The courier will either pay the postage due out of pocket or bring the postage due slip to the hospice. Most organizations will not pay postage due mail. It will sit at the P.O. for a specified amount of time and return to sender.
