As part of the horse-trading to win votes for the prescription-drug bill, House Republican leaders promised to hold a vote on a bill requiring hospitals that treat illegal aliens to report them to federal authorities.
The Medicare overhaul bill, which passed the House on Saturday and the Senate on Tuesday, includes $1 billion to reimburse hospitals for treating indigent illegal immigrants.

"A hospital in San Diego was forced to close after losing more than $5 million a year in unreimbursed medical care, much of it for illegal immigrants, and other hospitals have reported losing millions of dollars a year in uncompensated care."
Help me out, why cant the hospital turn such people away?

"Hospitals say they aren't supposed to ask about immigration status, but some seem to find out anyway. "
First order of business: Make it legal to ask this question.
My wife was asked her place of birth today. We were asked many intrusive personal questions. it is not out of bounds to ask if someone is a citizen or not.

"Health care providers are in the business of proving health care, not in the business of determining the citizenship status of our patients," she said. This is an idiotic statement as health care providers *are* in the business of getting *paid*. It is absurd for providers to find that they cannot get paid for services. immigration status is one way to find out.
We should not pay a penny to illegal immigration AND WE SHOULD SEND THE BILL TO MEXICO!!!

My previous idea is so good let me amplify it:
We should not have any guest worker or amnesty bill with Mexico without FIRST getting Mexico's agreement to PICK UP THE TAB FOR THE COSTS OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

Valid social security number would do for starters.
And make it a federal crime to give a false SS number.

"Writers of this Medicare bill have apparently never seen the movie 'Field of Dreams' -- if you build an illegal alien entitlement program, they will come," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican, who rallied fellow members to oppose the provision.

Hospital are aware the legal status of patients. On admission a patient is asked for name, address, phone #, male or female, employers name, insurance provider, next of kin, who to call for an emergency, and SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. If there is no social security number, hospitals use such numbers as 999-99-9999 or 000-00-0000 which is an identifying number for illegals. Hospitals also apply for emergency medicaid for the illegals. Hospital determine the illegal status when they apply for medicaid for that patient.

The cry from the illegals will be that they just won't go to the hospital and many will die on the streets and yadayadayada. Look for the whine if this bill gets any support.

Hospitals accept your federal tax dollars and then also pad your hospital bills to pay for illegal aliens who stiff them.
How compassionate of them!

Here's some more of your money being pissed away as well:
$6.4 Billion to Aid Border Counties
KVTV-13 News [south Texas]
Novermber 26, 2003
Along with a controversial Medicare bill passed by the Senate this week comes a bill to provide funding to border counties dealing with undocumented immigrants. Tuesday, the Senate unanimously passed a bill to help counties along the border having to pay for putting criminal immigrants behind bars.
In a news release from Senator John Cornyn's office, he says the federal government has long ignored the financial burdens placed on local law enforcement agencies due to the immigration policies.
The new bill will reimburse states and counties with $6.4 billion, distributed over a period of seven years.

I am sure Bush will sign this as he loves to give the American taxpayer money away to any unworthy cause.
These people need to be deported immediately. Why keep them in jail?

These people need to be deported immediately. Why keep them in jail?Probably so we know where they are. If we turned 'em loose in Mexico they'd be right back up here. We need a fence -- a big electric one. Zzzzzzzzzzap!

Yuo do not have to be a US citizen to have a valid SS #. SS agency is actively courting illegals as I type this. SS agency just needs warm bodies from anywhere on the planet to pay into the Ponzi scheme called SS.
