WASHINGTON

CFR. Farm Bill. Prescription Drug Bill.
These decisions all hurt Bush in the eyes of conservatives. We're not talking about this single issue, we're talking about a pattern of very poor decision-making in regard to domestic policy.
Bush has done an excellent job of foreign policy, which at the moment (in my mind) outweighs his domestic policy. But he hasn't accrued so much goodwill that can't change. Politicians need to understand that they're accountable for their decisions. And if those decision cost Bush the election, he and he alone is responsible - not conservatives who break ranks with him.
You've obviously not read the bill, have you? Neither did your Congresscritter. You read it and come back and we'll discuss it. It does absolutely nothing to seal our borders. It does absolutely nothing to track illegal aliens. What it does do is allow the Fed to monitor your phone lines,e-mail, purchasing habits, library books and reference material you are interested in, and gives the FBI, CIA, and Justice Department the ability to track your every move without a warrant. Pretty patriotic, huh?
People disagree with this decision, and they're saying so. That isn't "bashing", it's integrity. Feel free to rationalize your silence any way you choose, but if you disagree with this policy and say nothing you're complicit in it.
Yeah, right, no new bureacracy here. 30,000 new gubmint jobs. In the words of the imortal Dick Gephardt "You can't professionalize until you Federalize". Yeah, that's what we need. More gubmint.............I feel safer already. BTW, what color are we today?
Yep. Inherent in the argument of folks who claim Bush can't win without coopting liberal policy, is the belief that liberal policy works better than conservative policy. If they truly believed that conservatism's performance will win converts they'd advocate trying it. The fact that they run screaming from it speaks volumes about their political views.
Enjoy!: Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act
And if you again allow the Liberals to control any part of the government, regardless of how big or small it is, then you are still part of the problem.
Is it your belief that the only way power will remain with the GOP is if they continue to grow government?
I don't see the President as my enemy, I see him as the saviour of our country.
The all-or-nothing types should get the blame.
Bush would have to be a political idiot to always try to appease 5% of his base and in doing so, lose 25% of the general vote and the election. THEN YOU'LL REALLY GET BILLS YOU DON'T LIKE!
I personally prefer it not grow. To each their own, I guess.
If you get angry at the GOP and enable the Dems in the process, then you are a threat, IMO.
Yes - a threat to continued government growth.
Do you see an ever-growing federal government as a laudable goal?
I see him as a man who sometimes does right and sometimes does wrong. And my responsibility is to let him know what I think, because I try to control my own destiny rather than cross my fingers and hope the current administration is smarter than I am.
If I want a savior, I'll go to church. The fact that you see him in that light, however, is very revealing. I'm not surprised you'll never criticize him.
Nonsense. Bush (and any other politician) is marketing himself as a commodity. When a corporation markets a product the public doesn't want, who gets the blame for its inability to sell? The market?
The electorate responds to decisions, and in the event it responds unfavorably the blame falls squarely on the person who made the decisions.
Most of us feel the same way, but most of us are not going to let it cloud our judgement or cause us the overreact.
Yes - a threat to continued government growth.
Why does that sound a little shallow?
Do you see an ever-growing federal government as a laudable goal?
Who besides Liberals and Socialists are lauding it?
It appears any reaction is too much for you. If you feel the same way, why not do something about it?
Why does that sound a little shallow?
You're the one who characterized me as a threat. What did you mean by that if not a thread to continued growth of government? I assumed you referred to me in a figurative sense; if you literally meant "threat" I suggest you provide some evidence to back that up.
Who besides Liberals and Socialists are lauding it?
It appears you are.
We saw what you or those like you did in'92. Pathetic.
...if you literally meant "threat" I suggest you provide some evidence to back that up.
See my remark above. You're threatening to stab us in the back again in '04. Shame on you.
It appears you are.
You're making my case.
