A new bombshell revelation in the Kobe Bryant case threatens to destroy the credibility of the prosecutions key witness - whose testimony could send the basketball superstar to jail for years. Sources told GLOBE that the 19-year-old woman who has accused Bryant of rape told them she had sex with the prosecutions star witness Bobby Pietrack - a week before she met Bryant.
Pietrack, a 23-year-old bellhop at the resort where the alleged rape took place, is the first person Katelyn Faber told about her encounter with Bryant. He can testify about her emotional state and physical appearance at the time.
But legal experts tell us that if there was a sexual encounter between Katelyn and the bellhop, it could wreck his credibility and sink the case of the Eagle County, Colo., prosecutor.
For all the details of this blockbuster story, pick up the new issue of GLOBE.

Team Kobe didn't need to go into slime mode to get relevant sexual questions that might provide reasonable doubt into the trial, they served notice that they will destroy his accuser any way they can.
Honestly, what defense question(s) did you find slimey?

Bombshell: Kobe Accuser Had Sex with Key WitnessHow is this a bombshell? If, say, a woman is raped, can her husband not be a witness (assuming they have sex)?

I've seen how this "she had it coming" crap is played, from ringside. Then why did you miss the histrionics of a truly evil woman as she screws her way through life while simultaneously blaming the rest of the world for her troubles?
Kobe doesn't need to mount such a demeaning defense as you are suggesting, the girl herself is her own worst enemy.
That's my take from 30+ years at ringside.

Like a decades-old work of fiction about the Jim Crow South has any relevance here.
The DA and sheriff's department is ordering and wearing t-shirts depicting a hanging Kobe and other clever comments, and there's no relevancy to the Jim Crow south. Right.
http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,102252,00.html
On the front of the T-shirts ordered by the county workers is a hanging man. On the back is a choice of two derogatory statements about the Los Angeles Lakers (search) basketball star.
An e-mail message ordering 76 shirts, obtained by Fox News, was written from the same sheriff's office that is investigating the case.
The message was written Thursday, Oct. 16 one week before the case was sent to trial.
It specified an order for 76 of both types of the T-shirts, in sizes ranging from medium to triple-extra-large. It added that: "The order was for our office and the DA's office ... please give me a little more time to get with everyone to collect the $7 fee." The T-shirts cost $12.95 in single units, but the two Eagle County offices ordered so many that they got the discount rate.
But because of questions asked by Fox News regarding the issue, the orders were never completed.
Legal observers say none of this is against the law, but is definitely unethical.
"Playing around with these kinds of T-shirts shows bias," sad Larry Pozner, former president of the Defense Attorneys' Association (search). "The DA's office does nobody any favors by making a joke out of it and by making it a cartoon-character issue.

But those that have already decided he's innocent do themselves no favors by constantly tweaking the facts in an effort to paint her in as bad a light as possible. With regard to "tweaking the facts," please refer to #647 once again.

There are also reports out there that the DA was taken completely by surprise by her attempted suicides.
And I agree 100 percent with the rest of your post.
Anybody familiar with the rape laws in Colorado should know that this should have been a dead to rights case to take it to trial.
Did you know that if he is convicted and perhaps got probation, he has to take a lie detector test and ADMIT he raped her and pass the LDT or the judge will send him straight to jail?
Did you know that if he's convicted, he will have to register as a sex offender in every single town or city he ever travels to?
Did you know that if he's convicted, there is a chance he may not be allowed to live with his OWN CHILD?

Semen and sperm are two different things and Mackey tried interchanging them and was corrected.

As I look through the transcript for the underwear testimony (there was semen found, but not sperm, in underwear---semen that is not Bryant's), I found the part that totally refutes those who still say there was anal sex.
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/kobetranf2.html Q. She never claims anything other than vaginal sex, correct?
A. That's correct.

Detective testifies underwear had semen, did not testify to sperm:
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/kobetranf18.html I couldn't care less if there was sperm, too, but that isn't the state of the record. I didn't tweak--I corrected someone and pointed to what has been testified to. Now, the vaginal swabs--they show semen and sperm, and of course we all wonder "whose?".

It's patently false that "any one of us could be falsely accused of" rape. Avoid casual sex, avoid adultery, and don't put yourself in positions where you're alone with women you don't know, and your odds of running into Potiphar's wife or her modern counterparts, will diminish to nearly zero. That's true --- any man with half a brain knows better than to allow women he doesn't know into his hotel room. Most men set themselves up for any kind of accusation when they fail to take proper precautions --- monogamous married men who are careful never to be placed in a situation that could lead to this kind of thing would very rarely be falsely accused of anything.

There are also reports out there that the DA was taken completely by surprise by her attempted suicides. That's not only a rush to judgement, but borders on prosecutorial negligence. The prosecution has an obligation not only to scrutinize their cases but also their accusers, in order to avoid prosecuting the wrong person.
